I know this sounds made up but it really happened. My favorite snack was the french fries and a rootbeer soda. This was before we were married 48 yrs ago, so my beloved went to get us some fries and rootbeer and as he got back in the car he spilled the rootbeer all over the fries and the movie I think was Rebel Without a Cause,I could be wrong it could have been Susan Slept Here. Whatever it was, we still love our fries and rootbeer and when we have it it brings back those fun days.

Gladys this was such a treat to see. Thank you! Oh how I have always loved the movies. I especially liked going to the Drive-In movies. When the kids were little ( we lived in Indiana) we would get them all dressed in their pajamas and load the car ( station wagon of course ) with pillows and if needed, blankets. What a treat for all of us!! My personal favorite snacks have always been a soda, popcorn and a dill pickle. I can remember when I was around 12, I went to a Drive-In movie with my older brother and his girlfriend, I think it cost $1 per person. My brother, having always been the biggest tightwad living, made me get into the trunk until we got inside the gate, to save a $1!

Thankyou Gladys, what memories! My mom used to work behind the candy counter when my brother and I were kids. She would send down refills of popcorn with the usher and sometimes we would have Spanish peanuts that used to go around on a warm lazy susan. We also enjoyed ice-cream bars that were called Pips.
When I was a teenager going to the drive-in, we loved the home-made fresh cut french fries.( we didn't have pizza back then) They had burgers and hotdogs too. They were a lot better than what you get now. Everything was made fresh and the burgers would come with fried onions (yum) my mouth is watering just thinking of it. Of course, everything was washed down with coka-cola.
edit: to WW , your link was really cool , I've never seen that before. Talk about living in the future.

That brings a lot of memory to me We would go to the drive inns in a 1949 ford, mom would fry up some chicken and corn on the cob.We would stop by the ice house and fill the tub with ice and soda. We would spread blankets on the ground for us kids. we got to play on the swings and slides before the show begin. I would fall asleep before the movie was over and wake up in bed at home the next morning

One of the movie theatres we used to go as kids, had a Karamel Korn shop next door. We used to go there and get a box of Karamel Korn, with peanuts and then we would go to the movie. We used to sneek it in so they never knew. No particular movie tho.
We also used to go to Walgreen, and stock up on JU-JU Bee's and Dot's and Milk Dud's. THey lasted a long time.

Always popcorn, but why do I remember that short? I wasn't born yet in 1949. How many years did they play that same short? I know Wickwire's, too. I don't even go to that many movies! No one movie associated with popcorn. I just can't go to a movie without it!

Thanks for the memory's Glady's. I liked Wickwire's new wave version as well, what a difference, huh?
Popcorn with extra butter, and I love Jordan Almonds, the candy coated almonds.......my teeth can't take them any more though.
I miss the old drive inn movies, those were the good old days:~)
