I have an associates degree from an elite military college in the east coast. After that I went to AU where I am less then a year from my BA and am in top physical shape. That I know of I meet all the requirements to fly in the civilian world but I would love to serve my country once i'm out of college. I want to know if wearing glasses would ground me and yes my eyesight without my glasses is horrible.

We had plenty of warrant officer helicopter pilots in the Army during the Viet Nam war, who wore glasses. What you do is, you go to your nearest Army recruiter and ask to take the aptitude test unique to flight school...tell 'em you wanna become a helicopter pilot. Tell y'what, a skilled gunship pilot is worth his or her weight in gold when the stinky brown stuff hits the fan and the grunts on the ground need close air support. Last thing ol' Charlie wanted to see in the 'nam was a pair of Cobras pop up from the treeline with that mini gun ready to rock and roll...

be a mechanic and then do contract work for $120k a year plus. the money overseas is tax free. and working on blackhawks, kiowas, chinooks is pretty cool. the next closet thing if you couldn't fly, be the door gunner.

lasik is also the best. and don't ever say anything about your eyesight again. forget that you ever had to wear glasses. if it is fixed by the phisical and you pass. then you pass. period end of comment . next question. do not elaborate or volunteer information.

You may want to ask your recruiter. He/She may know the answer. Good luck.
