Boy I didn't answer this when it was important so I'm sorry, but you just need to be truthful. Say you would like to help her but have your own head buried in work and know you will get more done working on your own. I would have said is there anything I can help you with over the phone to give you a few pointers, and tried to point her in the right direction and suggest she call you again in a couple of hours to run her work by you. Be courteous and polite but honest. This is respectful. Theres no need to lie, you might be caught out.

Say, "I'm really sorry, but I am busy with my own homework tonight and cannot go to help you, sorry"

Seeing what you can do to help, and expecting a phone call for an answer in a few minutes IS NOT A commitment, as that one jerk said. It's an "I'll see", and when you thought it out you realized you do not have time. Do not feel badly.

Just call her back and tell her that you are really caught up in a homework assignment of your own that is taking longer than expected and you can't help her right now, but then offer to look it over when you're done with yours. Maybe have her email it to you so you can proofread it when you are free.

Call her back and tell her your mother just came into your room and she has a ton of things she wants me to do for her, and she doesn't realize I have a load of homework. Sorry, I won't be able to make it over to your place but there is no way I can possibly do all this and come to your place, talk to you tomorrow, gotta go my mom is waiting...bye

I would kindly say that you have your own homework to do and that if you had the time you would help her out. Hopefully she will understand that you have to put your own needs first. Maybe if you get done with your homework and she still needs help you can help her then.

You should just be honest..if your not then you'll just complicate things and then shell end up getting upset..I'm not saying she wont be upset that you didn't help her..because she will but you need to succeed in life and in order to do that you need to get your homework done first.just tell her you cant because you need to finish your homework and if you have time you'll help her later.
