adopt a soldier Here Is a myspace page and more info
http://www.myspace.com/adoptasoldier
If you are interested in adopting a soldier please send (through regular EMAIL) your contact information (Name, Phone, Email, and Mailing Address) along with which type of adoption you would like to do to
adoptasoldiernow@mac.com
Here are your options:
1. Regular Adoption: You can sign up to adopt a deployed soldier. By doing this you agree to send regular letters, cards for every holiday including birthdays and send a care package once a month.
2. Adopt a Wounded Soldier: There are many soldiers that have been injured and returned home. They are needing many different things since they have returned home. First and foremost they need money as well as letters and packages. We are working to build homes for the many wounded soldiers that are returning home that have no where to return to. We are currently building a home in Springhill, LA for SPC Kyle Burleson. We are currently raising funds to build a home for Bobby and Tommy Guinn who are currently in the Dallas VA Medical Center. They are from Overton Texas and in desparate need of a home.
3. Send Money: If you don't have time to give you are always welcome to send money that will be used to care for the soldiers.
4. Volunteer: We need various volunteers to help us adopt soldiers in your local communities. We also need help marketing, please tell all of your friends and family to help out. (If you would like a banner or letter to send out contact us and we will send this to you)
5. Letters: If you would just like to send letters or cards that is an option as well. We will be forming a Birthday Committee soon so that soldiers will receive several cards and letters on their birthday.
Thanks for your support!

Animal and homeless shelters are great causes, so are battered women's shelters, food banks in your area.
You can do any number of things with the money, either giving the money or buying supplies to donate somewhere.
You can buy a bag of groceries for an elderly person that you know (or buy a grocery gift card so they can pick out their own food)...they might also like a gas card if they still drive.
You can give to a veteran's or children's hospital.
You can sponsor a family to buy some Christmas dinner items or Christmas gifts for a needy child.
You can give it to a church or other religious organization, they usually have a fund for people overseas.
You can donate to the bed net organizations that send money to Africa for people to sleep under a net so they don't get diseases from insects.
Way to go sharing like this! Are you going to do it regularly?

I especially like the shelter idea. But you don't even need to give them money. We have what we call a wish list. On that list is blankets, sheets, towels, puppy food(we usually get dog food),pillow cases. These are things that you have at home and may need to get rid of some and those dogs really need them in the winter time to keep warm. By buying the puppy food you are insuring that your money goes to what it is intended for.
Thanks for having a kind heart.I wish people were more tender hearted all year long.

Excellent! BTW if you start saving your coins in January, you will be able to send a wonderful amount to the charity of your choice. Me and my friends saved our coins for a year, and was able to send 900.00 to a children's hospice. So keep saving those coins, they will really add up.
