For those that think the Sabbath was given only to the Jews I would like to point out something the Bible says. The Jews were Abraham's seed...correct? Here are two texts you might want to consider.
" Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham." Galations 3:7
" And if he be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." Galations 3:29
What Exodus 20:8-11 means to me......is that the Sabbath is like the Seal of God. Any official seal has 3 parts...the NAME, the TITLE, and the TERRITORY.
The Sabbath is heaven's official Royal Seal.

(v 10) "But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy
God." (HIS NAME)
(v 11) " For in six days the Lord MADE (Creator....HIS TITLE) heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is."
( HIS TERRITORY)

My covenant will I not break not alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. Ps. 89:34 (God "spoke" the commandments also..Ex.20:1)

Jesus kept the Sabbath and is our example. Lk 4:16

Paul kept the Sabbath. Acts 13:42-44

Law is to be "sealed" in the Lord's disciples. Isa.8:16

This is the telling of the 4th command to honor the sabbath of the Lord or Saturday. It explained how one should not do any work on that day and this would be detailed further Exodus 31:12-17 as well as other passages in the Law. Notice the penalty for breaking it is death and that it is called the sign between Israel and God for this Law. As a Christian we are no longer under the Law of Moses (See Romans 7:6-7, Galatians 3:24-26, and Hebrews 8, especially verse 13) We have a better Sabbath for us. The old Sabbath is a shadow of the Sabbath we have in Jesus and this is exactly what is said in Hebrews 4:2-11.

God (Yahweh) is the person behind this legislation. He is, more then a tribal leader or elder. The text insists on the centrality of God's role in Exodus. Israel is bound to these commands, not only because they are for the common good, but also because this God has directly intervened decisively in her life.

Note how Deut 5:15 uses the Exodus tradition as motivation for the sabbath observance rather than the creation tradition used her in verses 9-11.

The Sabbath was given to Israel, not the church. The Sabbath is still Saturday, not Sunday, and has never been changed. But the Sabbath is part of the Old Testament Law, and Christians are free from the bondage of the Law (Galatians 4:1-26; Romans 6:14). Sabbath keeping is not required of the Christian—be it Saturday or Sunday. The first day of the week, Sunday, the Lord's Day (Revelation 1:10) celebrates the New Creation, with Christ as our resurrected Head. We are not obligated to follow the Mosaic Sabbath—resting, but are now free to follow the risen Christ—serving. The Apostle Paul said that each individual Christian should decide whether to observe a Sabbath rest, “One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind” (Romans 14:5). We are to worship God every day, not just on Saturday or Sunday.

Exactly what it says! The seventh day, known as Saturday, is God's Sabbath. Being the only commandment saying "remember", God wants us to ever keep it in mind. The Bible tells us that it is a sign. Christ Jesus said, "If ye love Me, keep my commandments". The Sabbath was never changed by Jesus - He never gave a 10% discount on His commandments.
There are offers on the internet of upwards of $1000.00 for anyone who can find one verse stating that Jesus, or His disciples, changed the Sabbath from the seventh to the first day of the week.

"To the law and to the testimony: If they speak not acording to This Word, it is because there is NO light in them." Isaiah 8:20 (emphasis mine)

The Sabbath was and is a covenant between G-d and the Jews, and it lasts from sundown Friday to sunset Saturday. but to me it means that I should set aside Sunday for the Lord. That it should be a day of worship, no work, no shopping cuz ya make others work. A day spent focused on the Lord is a day of worship and renewal. To keep the sabbath holy is to spend it in worship and in church with other believers. It does not mean that if someone is in need, I do not help them.

Exodus 20 plainly shows that the Sabbath of the Creation is indeed a 24 hour period of time (unlike some teach), and that we should strive to keep the Sabbath Holy (Friday Sunset to Saturday Sunset, where ever we happen to be located, and not only on Jerusalem time, as some teach) to honor our Creator God. It is the only commandment not universally accepted by "Christianity", because of this, it is one of the "test" commandments that shows who is really trying to obey God and who God is really revealing His truth to.

These verses have to do with us Jews observing Shabbat, the seventh day of creation when G-d rested. The study of exactly what constitutes observing Shabbat occupies a large number of books in my Religion. Basically Shabbat is broken whenever an activity takes place that was an activity required for building the Tabernacle משכן This can be learned out from the Torah where it says that we rested from building the Tabernacle on Shabbat.

That we should set aside a day of rest, and of worship and honor to God. It doesn't matter what day it is. However, the Pharisees accused Jesus of healing on the Sabbath, and He rebuked them by telling them if they had a lost lamb, wouldn't they go and look for it on the Sabbath? Jesus doesn't want us to be ritualistic. That's religion. He went against that, so we could have a personal relationship with Him. We do set a day aside, as Christians, that day is usually Sunday. In some cases it's Saturday, and even Wednesday. But, it's not a sin to do anything else on that day, otherwise it would become about religion instead of what Jesus wants it to be. this is the best way I know how to explain it. It's still one of His commands.

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Heb 4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Heb 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
