If so which branch of the Service (Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marines)? Are they only for pilots or what? I have a link to a picture of a pair as seen in the 1976 film Taxi Driver with Robert De Niro, for reference.

You don't get issued sunglasses as they're not a "needed" item and they are not authorized for in flight on small craft.

HOWEVER, you are allowed to where conservative sunglasses while outdoors in uniform and Aviator style glasses ARE on the allowed list of what you can choose to purchase and wear... if you want to look like tom cruise.

The use of "aviator sunglasses" had largely disappeared with the introduction of the flight helmet in all aviation branches. The helmet visor gives more eye protection whereas glasses can let sun shine between the lens and the pilot's face. Most pilots will wear glasses only when they are not piloting an aircraft.

Not any longer.
In fact I don't know if that ever was really an "issue" item, or just a novelty that some members bought.

Current issued eye wear is either Oakley M-Frame ballistic glasses, or WileyX ballistic face shields for the Army, not sure about others. I know the Navy has some pretty high-speed eye wear they're issued, not sure of the make/type though.

I'm in flight school in the Army. They issued me aviator sunglasses just like those.

The AF will issue you prescription aviator sunglasses though not exactly like the one's in the pic. Mine were black frames with black lenses but same style. I also received regular glasses with the same black frame. I don't remember for sure if they offered a metal finish frame but I think they did. And they are not just for pilots but any aircrew member that needs corrected vision. And airlift crews who don't wear helmets do wear these glasses or sunglasses they bought themselves when flying.
