Her suggestions will only be ballpark at best! She doesn't know the personality of the guilty party. Best to you! ;-)=

Say this:
"I wanna talk about how to get over someone who hurt me but every time i do this, what she tells me doesnt work!"
Are you doing what she suggests? If you can't talk with this therapist or aren't comfortable with her suggestions, consider changing to a different therapist.

Rather than approaching the entire subject as a general topic, consider walking in to your appointment with a list of specific questions.
You might ask part of the questions about why specific aspects of what (she told you to do that isn't working) how to recover from being hurt.
Then ask other questions about alternative methods of recovery, seeking to put together a modified plan that you both can work with.

Part of therapy is thinking of it as a "coaching session" and to learn other patterns of thought that might just work.

Remember, the reason you're there is to discover why you are "stuck" in your present situation or pattern of thinking,
and to learn alternative ways to address your situation.

Why don't you tell her how you are feeling at the end of therapy? Whatever is not working is what your therapist doesn't know about. They are there for you to talk to and open up to?

You can print this out and show her. You had no problem telling all of us, what it is that you want and need. Now go tell her. Explain that the options or suggestions that she has offered you, aren't working. Perhaps that is a start. Good luck to you.
