Tell him/her the true meaning of Christmas. It's all about Christ. It's not about Santa.
Jesus Christ is the greatest provider. He gives us something every hour. Not only during Christmas.

It's ok....I actually was in 4th grade when I found out. Not the end of the world. As long as you continue to act the same around the kid....they will never know the differnce. Im 26 and my mom still hides gifts like im 10 yrs old! LOL. It is normal that you may be sad...cuz you wanted to keep that going a while!

I would tell him the truth
That Santa does exist
He may not be an old man that travel around the world in one night, but the spirit of Santa lives
Every time a gift is given or you give a gift, Santa lives
When you give to a toy for the needed or for the military family
Santa lives, in the hearts of people
He is not fake, he lives in people hearts

Of course you're sad; it's a sign your child is maturing.
That said, you might ease the blow of his own disillusionment by telling him about the story of Saint Nicholas - who actually DID live - and how his desire to be like Christ by giving back to the children around him started the tradition of Santa Claus. That was a comfort to my young neighbor who accepted that the spirit of giving, like Christ Himself, lives on in our hearts and lives through our generosity to others.

It's definitely okay to feel a little sad that some magic and spirit of the season is over with, but it's okay, talk to him about it, make sure he doesn't think that you were "lying" to him after all this.

yes, it is a little sad - a little bit of their childhood has gone forever now...
make sure that h/s doesn't "spoil the secret" for other kids though, tell them that they are part of the secret.
Now might also be a good time to uncover the REAL meaning of Christmas with them... hope, joy, peace

I would feel more than a little sad. I will be devastated. Part of the magic leaves that day.

I defiantly think that's normal. You're child is growing up and becoming more knowledgeable and independent, that can be a little hard for a parent.
