When will grades come out? Do you have time to bring up this grade before she sees it? If not, after dinner have a talk with her. Tell her what you have put down here. She may be mad at first, but she loves you.
Then, in order to get interested in history, you need to go to some of the places where history actually took place. I don't know where you live, but usually something of some sort took place within driving distance. When I was a kid, when we went on trips, we stopped at every Historical Monument we came across. It was fun, and looking around an old hacienda, (California) I could imagine the people who had lived there, what they were like, what their day-to-day lives were like, etc.
Everywhere you go, history is all around you. Imagine those people. Imagine what happened that created a historical event. Imagine what they must have felt, to do whatever thing that made history! It is exciting! You can almost feel the people there.
Get involved! Go to historical museums. You'll get the feel for history.

Hun.. listen to me.
History to you might be boring, but you are being taught it for a reason.
I suggest you pay attention and take notes. There is no excuse for you to have failed an open notebook test. No reason at all. If you have an F in that class, you really need to stop goofing off and take the blow and just do what is asked of you.
If you live in New York Like I do, expect the take a regents on all the stuff you have learned through out high school 10th grade, if you fail the regents you can retake it. But if you fail it again; you take the class again and you might end up not graduating on time. Start paying attention.

What I would want to hear is, that you are determined to bring your future grade in History up to at least a B, so that you can maybe pass the course; and you are also going to ask the teacher for some extra credit work.
If you really do study history, you will find that it starts getting more interesting. Every subject is like that. If you don't study it, it's not interesting.
Now, since you want to learn something more than just white guys, go ahead and learn about women and children and people of color in the historical time that you are studying. Your teacher will probably appreciate that too.

Ok. If you were my daughter this is what I would want you to do, but I am not your mom so I don't know how she will react. I would want you to come to me and tell me about your grade. Also tell me about the problems you are facing in this class. Than tell me that you need tutoring or some kind of help because you really want to get your grade up but not sure how. Stress that fact that your grades are important to you and that if she will get you help, you will do all you can to work on it. Be honest with her and do not hide your feelings, you will be better off and so will the relationship with your mom. I would feel very good if my daughter came to me and asked for help. Good luck with you. And yes, back in high school, I hated History and Math....YUCK

I'm a mom and the best thing a child can do is be HONEST. Although it may not initially earn you much brownie points eventually you will earn your mother's respect and trust. First figure out why you got that score, come up with a sensible plan as to how you will make improvements and present all the information to your mother. All she really wants to know is that your education is important to you and that you always give your best.

How about you actually pay attention in class. Listen, learn, and read your text books. If all you hear when you go to class is stuff about "dead white guys" as you so thoughtlessly put it, you need to have your ears checked, or pay attention.
