I need help to stop lying. I do it to just about anyone. I tell people what I think they want to hear so they will continue to like me. What do I do? I feel bad about it, but I feel like I can't stop. I do it on impulse now, and its like I've dug a hole. Help?

I normally wasn't going to answer this bc I hate fake friends and not to be mean, but that's what you are.

You have to ask yourself what you are so afraid of and why do you want to be friends with someone you don't get along with. You just admitted to everyone that you lie to your friends so they like you. Why don't you be honest with your friends and maybe they'll like you even more for having an opinion instead of a follower.

I've delt with people like you and it's disgusting. I love my friends that are brutally honest with me.

Hope I helped. I wanted to respond bc I've been betrayed by a lying friend and since you're seeking help, good for you and I hope you learn to be yourself.

Lying is the one thing I cannot stand! You need to ask God to forgive you for your sins, and mean it! Then you will have to try and do better. God will hold you accountable one day for every lie you've ever told, please ask him to forgive you! Once your sins are forgiven you have a clean slate -- you can start over with out the lies......no matter what be honest! People will see you are a man of your word and will TRUST you! You will gain many, many, many, friends in your lifetime by being an honest person. God can help you with this bad habit & I'll say a prayer for you also! Best Wishes!

STOP TALKING! Trust me, ppl won't like you better if you lie to them. Sooner or later they will find out the truth, and then they will definitely NOT like you. It is NOT automatic, saying that is a dodge. Get counseling if you can, but you will have to be honest with the counselor - if you can.

You need to put your filter on! Think about what you are going to say and screen it before it gets out of your mouth. I wish more people used a filter before talking! It would save a lot of hurt feelings. Good luck!
