Jesus apparently said it himself. It's in the bible, Mathew, Chapter 5, Verses 5 & 6. Don't be like the hypocrites who pray in church and on street corners...

Dear oh dear, they disobey a direct order from their master. Why do Christian church-goers constantly blaspheme and commit heresy?

you have misinterpreted that scripture. Jesus, if you read the whole context of those verses, you will notice that He was talking to the pharisees, who did everything for show, to bring attention to themselves. Praying in churches is not a sin, if it was it would not be in the whole book of Acts- that churches are to come together to pray........... What the verses in Matthew are talking about is that we are not supposed to pray to get attention placed on ourselves. Praying in public happens throughout the bible- it is the heart that Jesus is referring to here, not the act of praying itself

It says for their much speaking they think "men" will give them praise . WE are not to seek the praise of men but the praise of God. We can pray anywhere anytime we want.......... Chapter 5 of Matthew v 5 and 6 says Blessed are the meek; for they shall in herit th earth.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled............ Where does the praying in church come into your mind in those verses?

Before I got saved I used to be a smart ale ck too, but after Jesus came into my heart then I regretted and still do regret a lot of the things that i said and did.

I am not trying to make you mad, I pray that one day you too will trust Jesus Christ as your Savior.

Sorry, but 'you do err, not knowing the Scriptures, neither the power of God.'

I leave you to your own devices, but urge you to study and learn.

I think you have misread this....You are not a Christian, because you are blinded to spiritual things. You guys who ask questions like this just like to see how much of a rise you can get out of us Christians. You have to better than that. However, in so doing, you will lose your own soul. Think about it!
