It was a TV series. And the fellow who played Corporal Klinger (Jamie Farr) was the only leading cast member who had actually fought in the Korean War. Section 8 was a bit of fiction also. Many years ago you could separate someone for a pyschosis or neurosis. That was done under Chapter 8 of the Army Personnel Manual. Klinger didn't meet either of those two psychiatric categories.

I knew you could!

Of course not, although not a practice most Soldiers would engage in, there is nothing prohibiting cross-dressing in the military (except that you have to be in uniform when on duty).

Also, homosexuality (I know cross-dressing and homosexuality are two different things) is not a psychological disorder, and under the Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Don't Pursue policy, one cannot be discharged merely for being homosexual (cross-dressing, or not!).

Besides it never worked for Klinger either!

On the ship he would probably have a nasty fall overboard in the middle of the night. BTW Klinger was not real! Fiction my friend fiction!
