It has been two years since I have gotten anything for my birthday and I asked my mom if she would ask my grandma if they could bou me a laptop to make up for my b-day but she said that my grandma said that she could maybe spend fifty bucks on me if that. And all I'm getting from my mom is a crappy mp3 player. Has this ever happend to you?

no... I always get something. But my parents are well off financially.

perhapse your family (or at least your grandma) is going through a rough spot with money.

try to be understanding if that's the case. IF not, try to be gratefull you're even getting an MP3 player.

Are you kidding me? You do know money does not just fall from trees right? People not only have to work hard for money to spend, but have to take care of bills like electric, food, mortgages/rent, it all adds up big time. mp3 players cost a good amount of money. A laptop is expensive! You sound very spoiled and need to come back down to earth. Be grateful that your parents and grandmother can afford to spend as much as they are on you. A lot of people are going hungry and not able to afford any kind of gifts for their kids this x-mas.

Everyone does what they can do. Not all of us are independently wealthy and are just trying to make ends meet. It happens to me allot, but I never take it personal. And if you think a MP3 Player is a crappy gift, you may be a spoiled brat and need to re-evaluate your expectations.

From time to time, while growing up, my twin brother and I did not get birthday gifts from my parents. My dad was out of work and they couldn't always afford it. This year my mom was out of work so we didn't get anything. But it's okay because sometimes there are situations that cannot be avoided and as you get older you realize that there is more to life than a gift.
