I'm a new Muslim and I like doing the prayers, but I don't know them that well. I usually wake up in the morning and do fajr at the prescribed time, but I read the prayers as I listen to the audio. I wait until I get home from work to do Zuhr, Asr, and Mahgrib at Mahgrib time so that I can listen to the audio and read the prayers to do them. Is this ok until I memorize the prayers by heart?

When you become a Muslim, you are like a newborn baby, and you have to learn things for the first time....so do whatever it takes for you to learn the prayers properly =)
in other words, "it's all good", lol
Once you learn them, however, obviously you should begin to do them in the regular way.

Yes, it is ok, since you're still learning. But lets not make a habit of it. The prescribed time has many reasons to it. One of them is its about time management and discipline.
Everybody knows that Time is the most valuable commodity anyone can have. This is how God coach us to manage our time efficiently. Not for Him, but for our own benefit.
You and I know, if we slack in our discipline, in any discipline at all, the Philosophy behind the the discipline itself won't benefit us very much. This is the same thing, but this is much more important. Its about time management itself.

It's totally OK. You probabaly want to talk to a good muslim - some one at your local mosque probably to learn the best way to pray.

There are some good sites you can get information from.

You can visit www.islam.org

I'm not sure if you can pray zuhur and asser together, unless you pray them in a mosque and it was a bad weather and too hard for you to return to the mosque so here they pray them together, our religion is simple and hard at all, so do try and pray each time on it's own.
God bless and protect you.

As Salaamu Alaykum

I think you should learn the prayers by heart as soon as possible. As for that being Haram I do not know for sure. Allahu Alim (Allah knows best).

I pray that Allah guides me & you and increases us in knowledge... Ameen. May Allah bless you to learn your prayers by heart soon & make it easy for you to learn. . .Ameen

Ma'a Salaamah

I'd think your god knows what is in your heart, and where your intentions lie - the rest is just details made up by humans.

You need to try much harder for the indoctrination to work properly. You are going to mess it all up.
