THEY say baking soda and peroxide is supposed to work good. but it really just makes allot of bubbles. ask any dentist and i am sure he will tell you that you need to find a tooth paste with a higher fluoride content. some are 13% but the better ones are 15%. floride is what makes your teeth strong and enamil in good shape. read the labels.

Baking soda acts as an mild abrasive to help remove plaque and discoloration. This mixed with peroxide to form a paste is often used as home remedy to whiten teeth.
Baking powder is less abrasive so it would not be as beneficial to whiten teeth.
After further research, correction
Hydrogen peroxide is probably the most common and popular natural lightening agent. It can be combined with lemon juice, baking soda, baking powder, or almost a dozen other ingredients. Different recipes will call for different amounts of peroxide.
See dental site below for more information on teeth whitening.

Brush your teeth with regular toothpaste, to give your breath a fresh, clean taste and smell. Then brush with baking soda to make it stay fresh and deodorized all day.
Baking soda is the best deodorant for your mouth. It keeps your mouth from smelling bad throughout the day.
And it's cheap. Mouthwash is expensive and is only temporary. Baking soda is cheap and works all day.
It's a wonder more dentists don't tell you about it and more TV commercial don't advertise it....because it is the real deal.
I searched for years to find something effective for bad breath. I spent a lot of money and went through a lot of pain. Baking soda is the thing that actually works.

Yes it does. When the stains creep up on me I brush with baking soda and it comes right off. Baking soda is good for scrubbing pots and pans too as well as putting some in your wash to make it smell nice. Baking soda is so versatile, it really pulls double duty.
~*EDIT*~
I don't recommend brushing with baking powder, stick to baking soda. :)

I think brushing with actual baking soda can eat away at your teeth but a tooth paste made with baking soda in it should get your teeth whiter.

Yes, baking soda does help. The Victorians used to use it before toothpaste and it would whiten their teeth, it is still used to this day. I have even used it too. Just make sure you use it BEFORE you brush your teeth then brush your teeth. It does work though. =) Have a white smile day!

It's reliable and it is well in your gums however it does not do a factor in opposition to cavities. Only fluoride is helping in opposition to cavities. You can get a toothpaste with baking soda and peroxide (which kills germs) if you do not wish to make use of fluoride. But it nonetheless may not safeguard in opposition to cavities.

yeah the harshness of those little grain things scrape your teeth really hard, but you need to be careful with that because oyu can wear off your enamal. if you swoosh around peroxide in your mouth then spit it out it also whitens your teeth. sometimes like once a month i do that caus ei have braces and I dont want weird marks on my teeth
