Considering I was born right the first time. Ahem.
Let's see here. Since we don't believe in an event
that never took place on an incorrect date in the first
place, rule number one is knocked out.
Discounts are not FOR christmas, rather they take
place at the same time religious folks are out buying
things. If they tout 'jesus is the reason for the season',
the sales must not be intended for them. After all, they
are focused on the 'true spirit of the day', right?
Knocks out number two.
Number three, office parties take place as an excuse
to drink at work and tell your boss where to stuff it. Rule
number three isn't worth a hoot, either.
And finally, I have a green plastic rabbit statue in my
back yard. Though his arm has broken off, he is
just as decorative and serves the same purpose.
Yard ornament.
Why drive to a park to look at a plastic doll in the dirt
with lights on it?
Can you come up with any other good ones?

You would be surprised at how many Jews work on christmas so christians don't have to.
Sure, it's a deal, you get christmas. I notice your focus is the sale discounts, the christmas parties and viewing a manger in the park. All secular activities.
I get Shabbat, which I already have. It's a taste of the world to come. That comes every week, by the way. And also I get all the other feast days we have. Of course, none of them have pretty trees, lights or any secular thing. They are days of worship.
If you want the secular good times, take christmas. Not thanks, I'll take the spiritual good times.

I hope you don't take offense my friend---but it is Christians who are not being able to participate in Christmas events. Believers get the day off---but with the way things are going---we won't be getting Christmas Day---we will be getting winter solstice---children are now being released for winter break not Christmas---sales will go on whether it is considered Christmas or not--because merchandisers are so ingenious about sales. Where and when do you think Mother's Day and Father's Day came from? slow periods in the marketing department. We don't really have "Christmas parties" anymore. With all the drinking and eating and poor taste presents you can't really call most parties "CHRISTMAS" parties now can you. And forget about getting that manger scene at a public site. Give me a break. Our society is quickly dissolving into a less than monotheistic society. Our fathers and forefathers would roll over collectively in their graves if they could see the state of our society today.
Anyway---I am a born again Christian and I wouldn't mind seeing more good times.
Merry Christmas.

Shut the hell up! Not only do I get the day off..I get the same time off as school kids...I could careless about xmas discounts because I dont shop and you bet your sweet asss I will be at the office xmas party. If you havent noticed...NONE of the above have ANY thing to do with being a Christian. CHristmas is nothing but a commercialized way to dig deep in your pockets for a lot of bullsh*t that no one needs. I would think that you being born twice, you would know all this by now.

Christmas was originally a pagan holiday Saturnalia, plus other similar ones world wide, when the sun left the sky for the winter.
Look it up in ANY encyclopedia, in the Library, on line, even the Catholic Encyclopedia admits it!
The evergreens, the yule log, ACTUALLY seeing you trust YAHOO so much that you are here, look it up on Yahoo!
So for Jesus birth, NOT DECEMBER 25!!!!
NO-way, two very good reasons! It is well documented that Herod held the census that pulled Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem at the beginning of November. And also, the shepherds were still in the field with their flocks...right? Well December in Israel is as miserable as December in Massachusetts. Neither the shepherds or the sheep would have been stupid enough to be in the field in December.
Also, re read the BIBLE carefully! NO where does the Christ command us to celebrate his birth, only to remember HIS sacrifice as an ADULT, when He said at the Last Supper DO this in MEMORY OF ME!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO Christmas, should NOT be celebrated by TRUE Christians who LOVE Jesus and keep His rules about keeping the things belonging to Satan separate from those things belonging to GOD.
CHRISTMAS. A pagan festival, would be one of those things.
REALLY, go into the BIBLE yourself and prove me wrong!

The "Christmas" celebration of December 25th was adopted by the church in the late 6th century CE. Prior to that it was the winter solstice celebration of December 25th (because in ancient calendars the solstice was celebrated on the 25th, not the 21st). This winter solstice celebration can be found in the most ancient recorded documents. 18th century BCE tablets in Mesopotamia show the first hymnals sung in celebration of this day. Babylonian engravings from the 7th century BCE show the inclusion of the "Christmas" tree and the wreath. Pagan Germanic tribes started using the evergreen for this that we use today and began decorating it. Caesar Augustus, who ruled from approximately 27 BCE-17 CE, gave and received "Christmas" presents on this day with his Mythraic friends. Mythraism referred to this day as the "Day of the birth of the Unconquerable Sun." In the 6th century CE, Catholicism adopted all of these practices, but renamed the holiday under the name of "Christmas". It really didn't win over the rest of the Christian world until the 9th century because some Christians were upset about adopting a holiday that clearly had Pagan origins. Pope Gregory wrote a letter (which is still easily accessable), stating the importance of adopting native Pagan holidays in Europe because it would ease the transitions of those he wished to convert. Personally, as a Christian, I would like to keep my Christmas holiday because it is fun, even though I realize it originally had nothing to do with Christianity. I think since neither Christianity nor atheism can claim ownership for a holiday that appears to go back to Sumerian origins, we can share it together. Besides, I like my Christmas tree (originally a Babylonian fertility symbol) and the looks on my children's faces when they open their Christmas presents and greet in "The day of the birth of the Unconquerable Sun/Son."

In that case can non Heathens be forced to not use heathen things?
Like the days of the week. Santa clause (Odin) Christmas trees. Roads (roman). Gift giving. Pretty much Every christmas tradition that exists. Stockings. Milk and cookies for santa. Christmas dinner. Easter anything but church service. Birthdays are more of a heathen/pagan tradition. To. The Idea of a holiday.
Pretty much everything that makes life fun is heathen or pagan.
Sounds like a fair trade. Your misery for me not getting .3 percent off. Oh and constellations, telescopes(muslim, which is non christian), folk music.

Some people might not agree with my
answer/comment but hey who cares if
somebody doesn't like what I have to say they
can simply lock yourself in a box & don't
bother/worry about what's happening outside,
because frankly you will most likely disagree
on how the weather is and complain about
it. "Christians" are always saying how they
accepts all faiths but they think they are the
best, they think they are the chosen ones. So
my advice to ALL CHRISTIANS is be a little
more tolerant of the things God has put on this
earth and Honestly love thy neighbor(not just
love thy neighbor in Church while bein
preached at in Church but the entire day(
is when hipocracy comes in(And I see this
every single day))) & don't worry about how
they are living they are making it the best way
they can with or without God. Christians
beleive that God is the only Answer no he is
not let me try to simplify this just because you
think Right is right that does not mean that left
is right too.

Alright, all atheists, I'm officially coming up with a new holiday. It's called "Let's have fun, and be merry and nice to each other, and give gifts day". I'm declaring that it will be on December 25th.1) You can have the day off for this holiday. 2) You get sales discounts on your gifts for our holiday. 3) You Have a a good upcoming. 4) You don't have to look at the manger, but why would you want to.Have a great upcoming "Let's have fun and be merry and nice to each other and give gifts day" :)
