You can lose weight quickly, but little will be fat. The most fat one can lose is about 2 pounds a week. Anything more then that and it is water, and muscle. That is because there is about 3500 calories in a pound of fat, and you lose weight by eating less calories then you burn so if you burn 2000 calories a day (average adult), then if you only eat 1000 calories, that is a calorie deficit of a 1000 and 2 pounds a week. But a deficit of more then a 1000 a day and you risk putting your body in starvation mode so it slows down your metabolism causing you to burn less calories a day, and to break down muscle and organ tissue because these are more energetically expensive for your body to maintain, and hold on to as much fat as possible so that you can slow down death from starvation. This is why people yo-yo diet, they shock there system by starving themselves and end up gaining tons of weight. Two pounds a week is still pretty fast though, I suggest going to a free calorie counting site such as http://www.calorie-count.com/ to find out how many calories you burn a day so you know how much you should eat. (I lost thirty pounds in six months and it wasn't all that hard) Good luck. :)

Yes, even though people will say this is a bad thing to do!

I ate only granola bars for breakfast & lunch, drank all the diet pop I wanted, and then had a Lean Cuisine or something for dinner. Total calories each day was under 800, which I know is extreme. But I lost 7 pounds in just over a week - a lot of it was probably water, but so what! My small jeans fit!!!!

Everyone will say it's unhealthy to lose weight fast like that, but sometimes people just want to fit in skinny jeans or something for a weekend.

It's possible, but it's not healthy and the weight will come right back as soon as you stop whatever you are doing.

Slow weight loss is best.

Sure! People who have arms & legs amputated -do it ALL the Time! :) (Otherwise, I wouldn't advise it. People who lose weight TOO quickly- can also lose their health).
