Not a holiday. A day of commemoration perhaps. The problem with holidays in the U.S. is the instinct to treat like another day to get drunk and overeat. Look at what has happened to Independence Day over the years.
The other phenomenon to be wary of is the reaction of retailers to holidays. The last thing we need is a Pearl Harbor Day furniture sale.

It is a national holiday. Hence why it is on the calender. We always had a remembrance at my school when I was younger.

No government workers don't need another day off.

But I remember Pearl Harbor day every year.

I believe that it should be made a holiday in remeberance of all of those brave men and women who served their country in many ways. In my family we remember it because that is the day that my maternal grandmother was born. We still remember it even though she is no longer with us.
