I find it astonishing that people can look at that kind of thing and think it makes sense.
Try this one: Do you believe that Elvis sang for you so that you may never have to hear his voice?
Or how about this: Do you believe that computers were created so that you wouldn't have a way to use the internet?

LMAO, to "Paul S Bullfighter". Your answers made me laugh. If there was a Jesus, don't you think he gave us the short end of the stick? Yes, he had to endure suffering, yes he was brutally beaten, starved, and bled to death. But, for the small price of mortal pain, he got to be set free from this hell we call earth. And now he lives an eternal life of peace and happiness and blah blah blah. We live in a society that is so faithless that we NEED the facts...we NEED the proof. Personally, I believe Jesus could have been a real man. Do I believe that God himself impregnated the "Virgin Mary" to have a son, only to sacrifice him for the worlds sins? Mmmm, not so much. Not sure what the law says today, but back then, when a woman got pregnant, out of wed-lock, (and to someone of a different background or even race, especially), they were stoned to death. Or, tortured or killed in any other way they thought of for unmarried, pregnant girls. What better way than to tell the gullible public that God sent you this child, and He told you that Joseph was to marry you and take care of this child? Hmmm. There is always an explaination for everything. I'm not anti-religion...I'm just not gullible. I believe religion was an idea someone had to 'control the masses'. Almost like our government is today....they control the public with fear. That's all there is to it. And, in the bible, is God not someone to be feared? Think about it.

The more I think about that, the more I ask myself why such a sacrifice was necessary.
I believe Genesis is an allegorical tale. If that is true, there was no 'original sin,' and it isn't necessary for there to have been a Jesus who died for the forgiveness of human sins.
Therefore, just loving God and behaving with love to others is enough.
If I had lived during the Spanish Inquisition, I would be so dead for saying that!

With Jesus, and with His father, God Almighty,
But, we have to live up to what Jesus set down as rules for us to do that.
I believe we have to keep working out our own Salvation, as the New Testament said. Not once saved always saved.

For an omnipotent being, he sure does things the hard way. That's like me crashing my car every morning and asking the ambulance to drive me to work. Every day.
Reverand J: You imply that "belief" is voluntary. If someone tells me 2+2=5, I can't make myself believe it. I can pretend to believe, certainly. I can shout 2+2=5 to the rooftops, but it's not really belief. Is your god so easily fooled by non-believers hedging their bets?

Hebrews 5:7-8 (NIV) During the days of Jesus' life on earth* (*all along) , he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered
So you see Jesus was really scared to die. Good thing that Saint Paul came along later on and finished whatever pain Jesus still had to suffer in his flesh...
Colossians 1:24 (NIV) Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.
And that is why God rewarded Saint Paul with the "STIGMATTA". He was the first Christian to get it.
Galatians 6:17 (NIV) Finally, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.
Jesus was never in real agony... he had a lot of comfortable time with the other 2 thieves to talk about a lot of religious crap... Jesus also had a chance to talk to Saint John about becoming the son of the Blessed Virgin Mary... so I see no agony at all if you ask me... I am really disappointed! But that is all in the Bible that you ought to read it...
BTW, Everybody was surprised that Jesus died so quickly! It seems that God the Father wanted to send him to preach in Hell ASAP...
Mark 15:43-45 (NIV) Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead. Summoning the centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died. When he learned from the centurion that it was so, he gave the body to Joseph.
Jesus would have made it into the Guiness Book of Records for a quick dying on the Holy Cross...!!!

god came in flesh and died on the cross then went to hell and got the keys from Satan and kicked his butt and
he died then rose on the third day his blood is what our sins are washed with he blots out the slate makes it clean but you must repent
your own salvation is at hand son
wouldn't you rather believe in god and die and find out that he isn't real
then to not worship and have faith in him and find out he is real there is no second chances are you 100% sure if you die tonight would you go to heaven if you answered yes then repent form your sins and believe he died for you and rose on the third day and if not then your hell bound

I, for one did not ask, or order anyone to die for me. So in the words of Kathy Griffin: "jesus can suck it!"
