My boyfriend and I wanna go up and do the whole watching the ball drop thing. We can get there for about $35 roundway for each person through the Chinatown buses, but STAYING there concerns me. Will all the hotels prices shoot up like mad? Anyone got some good advice?

Have a look at this site which offers deals at the last minute - but New Year's is a big night so if anything is on special or left available grab it.

You can sort prices by location , price , star rating and name in either apartments or hotels.

Hope this helps

Yes, because Times Square is such a popular thing with the tourists, and many book their rooms a year in advance, any rooms left are going for top dollar. For funsies, I checked Travelocity and the shown rates range from $325 to to $700 a night.

My advice: if you can head home the same night, it'd be worth it not to spend out the wazoo for a room.
