It appears I've been blocked by a Christian for answering his questions from my heathen point of view - why the fear? I'm always polite but question everyone's religion, including my own and welcome discussion.

Batgirl: I'm sorry you were blocked. I think it's a cowardly act. If you don't like someone's opinions, don't read them. Throwing out a question that you know will get extreme reactions and then blocking someone is low.

I understand exactly what you mean, this has just happened to me and you cannot believe that people can be so vindictive.
This person claimed to be a Jehovah Witness and sent me a nasty e.mail,....but I suppose it takes all sorts. Brush it off and continue to be your polite self. Don't change your good habits just because others have bad ones.
I think that people with small minds behave in this way and obviously your answer rattled their cage.
I am a Christian but I love to chat with anybody and I love to listen and try to understand their view point. Thankfully we are not all the same.
Its healthy to ask questions and debate, that is how we learn.

Why do some atheists block others?

DO THEY also fear the answers that don't agree with their viewpoints?

I've been blocked by a few atheists for the same reason that a Christian blocked you. Not only that, but one coward sent me nasty grams while at the same time refusing to receive any mail himself.

LOL, so there was no way I could explain to him or reply to his nasty gram......I just consider the source.

I've been blocked by a few myself and that is their choice. Some, not all, christians do not like any view that does not support their own. In my own opinion, I consider it weak - they are not that strong in their faith if they opposing viewpoints bother them so badly.

Many people though, are not bothered and will not block.

I've noticed that there are many people who block others for their viewpoints instead of only blocking people who have been abusive to them.

Many times they do not want people of different viewpoints to answer their questions as it may get people thinking about those other ways of thinking.

I'm not Pagan, and my name isn't Dan. I'm a Christian (not a missionary) living in Taiwan, and it amuses me to have a pen name. In Chinese, "pagan dan" means "bacon and eggs".

What do you mean "blocked"? Do you mean "reported"? In every category, not just R&S, people sometimes report an answerer with whom they disagree. The probablility of getting reported is directly proportional to the ignorance or narrow-mindedness of the question. One guy called me a "commie" for saying that illegal immigrants ought not to be shot from watchtowers as they come over the border, and another called me a "squealer" for reporting a guy who intended to commit an assault with a firearm. That's just for starters.

If you mean "block" as in "not accept email from you", don't worry about it. Real Christians are respectful of the beliefs of others, and refrain from the kind of spritual arrogance I all-too-often see on this forum.

I didn't know you could block any thing. I don't think there's any fear at all. First of all, there are some people that only want to deal with sensible people. Did you by any chance talk out of your head, with your heathen point of view ? I don't answer a lot of the questions on here----NOT because I have fear, but because they are so silly and ridiculous and I feel it's a waste of my time to fool with them. I want to try to help the ones that seem sincere and have reasonable questions. I'd love to be able to change someones mind about God and Heaven if I could. I love people and I hate to read some of the things that are against our Father. They don't have to answer to me ,-BUT-there is one they will answer to and that's Jesus. I'm trying with all my might to prepare them, for the day is fast approaching when they will have to go before God and explain themselves ,as to why they didn't accept the free gift of salvation. That will be a terrible and scary time for them ,because by then they will know that God is real -BUT IT WILL BE TOO LATE THEN TO REPENT. BY THAT TIME THEY KNOW THEY WILL GO TO HELL. WHERE WILL YOU GO MY FRIEND ? JESUS LOVES YOU AND SO DO I.

I think sometimes people block because they get tired of the barrage of messages. I think it is about individuals, not groups...some people just cannot handle other points of view.

Flip the question around. Why are you bothered by having been blocked? Their loss.

I've been blocked by several atheists, even though my answers did not violate any community guidelines. That just the way it works sometimes.

I don't block anyone, and my email is open. I think it is so idiotic to block anyone. If you only want to hear your own point of view..open word pad and type away!
