I'm in Washington state, and was worried because I just graduated college, and have no income (or, therefore, medical insurance)

Call around to various obstetricians and ask about programs, or just call whatever california calls its department of human and child services. I did this, and just found one that covers 100% of ALL costs, the prenatal visits, labwork, testing, the entire birth as well as the first 2 months of newborn care. It costs nothing, and I was overjoyed.

I'm sure california has something similar. If not, move to Washington. :)_

The average vaginal birth is $6,000. That does not include prenatal care. You should investigate midwives. Their costs are much less and if you choose a homebirth, your cost is under $2,000 including prenatal care and the birth.

You do not say why you stopped working, but I suggest at the very least, you go to a temporary agency and get working.

My cousin and his GF didn't have insurance. They contacted Planned Parenthood who helped them make arrangements to prepay their hospital (about $6,000). If she had to have a c-section, there would have been NO additional cost. They took out loans on their cars to pay for it since she was going back to work after 6 weeks. Her prenatal care was about $1,000. After the birth, MN came out with insurance for all pregnant women. You pay on a sliding scale, but your only qualification is that you are pregnant and have no insurance. Planned Parenthood likely would know the details of this as well if it is in your state.

Try applying for welfare. You might qualify for the CHIP Program if not there medical. Doctor bills when having a baby are very expensive. You might qualify due to your financial situation. If you aren't married don't mention your child's father when you apply. Apply as a single mother.

It'll be easy for you to apply for medicade. Medicade tends to cover pregnant women rather readily.
