Write the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Washington D.C. - or call them. They will tell you what you need to do.

The question is why? They have a horrible unemployment rate and are overrun by illegal immigrants....

A company in UK must employ the US citizen in order that the latter will easily be granted a working visa for about three months depending upon the completion of the required documents.
