A friend of mine personally asked me to be a wedding attendant. But I really don't know much about weddings. But he said that he will talk about the details later but I want an overview of what are the duties a wedding attendant before he discusses about the details.

You should get the overview from him before you accept so you know what HE is expecting. Make sure you are willing to do all of it before you accept.
Traditionally all you have to do is help out on wedding day and help with the bachelor party.....but somepeople have twisted this in include the attendants as their personal errand people.

Typically attendant is another word for bridesmaid or groomsmen. Attendant is used because more and more we are seeing men stand on the brides side and women stand on the grooms side. This does not mean that men wear dresses and women wear tuxs, typicallt all the female attendants are in a similar dress and all men are in tuxs.
I agree you want to ask your friend what his definition of an attendant is.
