My common-law partner from the UK has recently joined me in Canada on a working holidaymaker visa. I had been living with him working on the same visa for a year and a half. I have been starting to go through the application process for Common-law Partner Sponsership but I am a bit confused. Does anyone know if it is possible to sponser him while he is still in the country? The application forms seem to always mention out of Canada information and addresses, etc. I would be greatful for any help since it is hard to get some answers through the CIC website. Cheers!

Sponsorship means that the person being sponsored is out of Canada and not in Canada with a tourist visa. Another procedure might be applicable. Thus, ask the Canadian Immigration about your situation so that the appropriate action will be taken.

If you are both in Canada and YOU are a Canadian citizen, then you need different forms. There are forms for an application for in-canada applications, provided ONE of the partners is a Canadian citizen.

If you are both UK citizens, then you have no choice but to return home and reapply from outside of Canada. And for that you would have to apply under skilled worker application.

I agree the CIC website is difficult to navigate. Hope the below webpages are of help.
