Okay so on my Apple Mac I tried to drag the system preferences beside the Trash and I accidentally put it in Trash. So I deleted it then I went into Applications and dragged out the System Preferences app there to my doc but I accidentally dropped it on my desktop then I dragged it from my Desktop to my Dock then I dragged the one on the Desktop top trash and emptied it too. I signed into another user name and a "?" came up and when i went over to it it said System Preferences then i logged out and signed back onto my user name and there was also a "?". I can't get back onto System Preferences and I dunno how to get it back, PLEASE HELP! :[[ x

Here is the link to 2 different ways that may solve your problem. It could be that you have to boot up with the original CD/DVD and run the disc repair.

If you have NOT emptied the trash the files are still there and you can open the trash and drag them out. In the future, please check what is in the trash before you empty it. Keep in mind, too, that there is a Undo action under the edit menu, or use Command Z.

Can you go back to a previous date when everything was working? I know Windows systems have something like that, but I never had to use it so don't know how it works. I know nothing about Macs.
