He takes it from the laundry hamper. If I don't notice him doing this, he will make a nest out of a few pairs under the bed. Any reason for this? He already has a blanket. Oh yeah, the panties are um, ones that are from the dirty hamper.

Your cat takes your "dirty" panties from the hamper because they have your scent on it. It probably consoles him/her when you are not around. You can try to substitute it for something like an undershirt that you have worn and not washed.
Take it as a compliment.

Well it could just be this simply that you over spoil him maybe or if you work it just wants your smell its probably use to this one try covering them in a different hamper with a lid and rock on it and keep clothes in an open one see if that changes it

They do that because it smells like you, so they want to lay on whatever smells like you. We have 3 small dogs and they do the same thing with our underwear

They have your wonderful scent on them. Your cat loves you and likes to have your scent on her bed; it's comforting.
