and i don't want it because i think it's misleading... and tends to lure the "thumbs down fairies" even more than ever.

thanks to all. i really do wish i knew how they figure this so i could avoid it (maybe tom l has the right idea - he has a tremendous amount of "points" but no TC because of low best answers). It makes no sense and is really useless. sigh...

LOL! I said the exact same thing when my TC showed up. I guess you have to have below a 10% BA. I don't want the darn thing either. But if you keep answering questions in a way that helps people... it's going to stay. I thought about it... I don't care about points. I don't care about BAs... and I really don't care about thumbs down. So yeah, it makes you a target, but in the long run it won't matter. I'd prefer you don't go on hiatus, I think you give great answers. All you can do is stick to your guns and ignore the thumbs. I actually get a good laugh out of them sometimes.

I had one before and posted the same question on the YA forum(link at top of page) and it disappeared for me. It has just now reappeared.
I will let you know I received just as many thumbs down without the TC banner though.....

I just got my badge today, kinna surprising really :) I got way more thumbs down today then usual, even to very simple answers I know no one could find an issue with. I agree it may be a magnet for malcontents.

I make no bones about not wanting votes for best answer, and now you know why.
You would think it was a contest for a million dollar prize or something with the way some on Y/A act.
I wish they would just do away with the points period.

Well if you all find a way let me know! I've had mine for 9 months now and I have a thumbs down fairy that I call George! Ya I had to name to it because it follows me around all over the boards!

ADD: Thanks Animal_ artworks! But I'd still llike to give George a swift kick in his A_s!

Me either. It just showed up the other day and I was happy when it wasn't there.

It is like a BIG banner that says "Hi, I have a lot of DOWN time and spend it on this stupid site taking crap from idiots".

I'd prefer to be without it, myself.

Goldengal.. you're beloved.. you are so important someone takes time out of their day to follow you!!! (that's what I keep telling myself anyhow).
