i went to the gym a couple days ago then after thanksgiving, i woke up and my shoulder hurt as well as part of my back and arm. I dont know if i slept on it wrong or something. I have pain in my arm when i move it certain ways as well as my back and feel some tension in my elbow. Is it a rotator cuff, dislocation, what?

With the information that you have given me I am going to say rotator cuff injury, you would know if you dislocated your shoulder. Usually when you dislocate your shoulder there is a significant trauma with it.

Having had both a shoulder separation and a damaged rotator cuff to my right shoulder, I can only tell you what the symptoms were for me. With the dislocation, slight swelling occurred, any movement caused discomfort (pain) in the arm. With the damaged rotator cuff, swelling was very slight and I could move the arm from side to side. Trying to raise the arm created pain from mild to extreme. Have it checked out by an orthopedic doctor as soon as possible.

Go to see a DR. to make sure you didn't tear anything.
