Why do you think butter would affect how a cat lands? Because buttered toast always seems to land butter side down? Well, we are talking about a living cat, not an inanimate piece of toast. I dont think there is any comparison

There needs to be toast involved, it's the toast that never falls butter side down, not the cat. By tying that to the cat's back, with the cat landing on it's feet (supposedly) it's been speculated (junk science, just for laughs) that you'd have a spinning perpetual motion machine hovering in mid air, unable to land.

There are whole websites dedicated to the "buttered cat paradox" and the possibility that this would, in fact, be the fabled perpetual motion engine as the natural tendency of the cat to land on it's feet competes directly with the natural tendency of butter to hit the deck. Most of these theories involve the use of a slice of bread or toast as a carrier medium for the butter as I believe some researchers have been seriously injured in attempting to apply the butter directly to the cat.

It's Murphy's Law, buttered side down, of course! LOL I just find it amusing that someone would ask a question like this! That is, assuming it is meant as a joke! I love kitties! I have two! Sadie and Squeaks. And they are very well taken care of!

Let's butter your back, drop you off a bridge, and see if you land on your feet or your back!
