sorry, maybe I didn't phrase the question correctly...governments telling the public what to be scared of. Inciting fear. Social control........there, is that better?

It would appear that you would like it to be a natural cycle but unfortunately the science and the facts don't support that. In fact, they point to anything but a natural cycle.
Your right in deducing that there are natural cycles which the planet goes through and historicially these have led to significant changes in our climate. Being cycles they're predictable, the most obvious such cycle being nothing more complicated than the rotation of the Earth on it's axis (day and night). The other cycles are equally regular and predictable and so at any one time we can calculate what their effects will be on our climate. Right now the net effect of the cycles is one of very slight cooling, the longer term trend is one of slight warming.
This longer term trend has been ongoing now for approx 10,000 years during which time the planet's temperature rose by 1°C, at current rates it won't be 10,000 years we need to wait to see another 1°C rise but just 56 years.
It would be nice if it were a natural cycle but this has long since been ruled out and has been ruled out time and time again. Many alternative possibilities have been suggested, they've all been investigated and proven to not be the cause.
The proof of what is causing the planet to warm is actaully remarkably simple - greenhouse gases have the same frequency as thermal radiation and therefore they trap it within Earth's atmopshere (over simplified but that's the gist of it).
Global warming isn't something new. It was scientifically hypothesises as far back as 1824 and proven in 1893. For decades scientists warned governments about the implications but their please fell on deaf ears. It's only in the last 20 years that governments have started to take notice.
The fact that governments are using climate change as a reason to introduce certain taxes and financial penalties is nothing new. You pay tax on what you earn, where you live, what you drive, what you buy... it's only to be expected that climate change will be taxed and if it weren't then it would be something else instead.

Yes, most of it is just a natural cycle. Global warming and the dire predictions about future climatic change, stem from scenarios played out by climate models. The sun changes it's output level over many cycle lengths. The majority of them are associated with the orbital characteristics of the outer planets such as Jupiter and Saturn. Their pull causes the center of the sun to wobble over decadal trends. and subsequently changes the suns magnetic field strength as well as the amount of sunlight reaching Earth. The oceans store up long term solar output level changes and disperse the energy into the environment over 7 to 25 year cycles. Most scientists lack the intellectual capacity to understand the myriad of interconnected variables required to understand earths climate. The heat retention capability of the oceans are a subject that has no answers, and until there are, climate models are pure conjecture, and should treated as such.

If the idea of mankind affecting climate is a theory cooked up the government to control society, why is it that the government isn't implementing any societal controls now that they have most of the public believing they are warranted? We have seen how well the government can drum up support for other non-existent threats, and how quickly they can act once they have public support, so why is it taking so long in this case (over 25 years!) and why have so many business interests that are normally aligned with the government been so opposed?
I'm not saying that there isn't a shadow government run by ultra-left-wing radicals (or are they neo-crypto-facists?) that wants to take away your lifestyle just because they hate your freedom, but I am curious how precisely you see this shadow government operating, or controlling anything, if even a cursory reading of actual events over the past 25 years suggests that the government that actually does hold power, and the business interests who support that government, have been extremely successful in preventing any meaningful political action in this area.

Global warming is man made. 10,000 scientist from all over the world have agreed on that. Fear is a control factor for societies but global warming is not a fear-generating issue. People believing that global warming is a fear-generator are usually the ones that are responsible for global warming. I agree that other issues are used to manipulate public opinion (terrorism for example) but this is not the case with global warming.

I think we have a lot to do with the unnatural cycle of the earth...global warming should be a way to control people's ways of saving energy and car pooling more and not polluting our ozone.
You can't possibly think that controlling the society wouldn't be a bad thing...there have been dramatic climate changes all through out the year.
In Arizona it's normally low 60s to mid-70s come December, not 80's to 90's. Most places are cold where it should be hot and others are hot where it should be cold.
Global warming makes a lot of sense.

Real and mostly caused by us.
You seem to be a conservative. You might want to consider what these people say:
"Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"
"National Review (the most prestigious conservative magazine) published a cover story this past week calling on conservatives to shake off denial and get into the climate policy debate"
"Pat Robertson (very conservative Christian leader) 'It is getting hotter and the ice caps are melting and there is a build up of carbon dioxide in the air. We really need to do something on fossil fuels.”
There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:
http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/articles/home_page/412.php?lb=hmpg1&pnt=412&nid=&id=
And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686
"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point. You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."
Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

I believe humans played a part in the creation of 'Enhanced Greenhouse Effect" but the whole Greenhouse Effect is natural and if we didn't have that we would die because it would be too cold.

Been going on forever. It's natural.
I talked to someone that studied climate and he said the cycle is likely to change back to cool if it hasn't started changing already.

But when you think about it, global warming also has to do with polluton which people are doing alot of. So that also has to be stopped.
My friend actually said there was an ice-age so know there's gonna be a heat age. Who knows there could be a heat age.
