OK, so last July my brother (who was 18) decided to take a trip to New York and be with his 15 year old girlfriend...the relationship lasted 3 months and after running out of money, having to pay for a McDonalds door because he broke it and getting into many fights he decided to return back home (as of October). To say the least I was depressed and angry. The problem I have is that he does absolutely nothing. He's 19 and all he does all day is go on myspace and talk to girls he doesn't even know...he has no job, no car, he has no money, no personality (except this anger he has towards everyone) and he has NO intentions at all of changing that...he wants to live off from mom and whilst in NY he was hit by a car so he's getting $50,000 dollars for a broken wrist....he already has plans with that...plasma TV, expensive car etc.
Oh, and all he does is yell at my mom (she is kinda like a push over...she will Not say “change or get out” or something like that. This just makes him take everything for granted. Last thing…almost every night he stays up until one either wandering around in the streets or he’s up in his room (right next to mine) making these gross noises with girls and banging his bed like everywhere…it’s gotten so bad that there is a crack in the dining room ceiling:- (.

How can he change and what can I do that will help me…like make me as happy as I was when he wasn’t here and help me concentrate to maintain my straight A’s in school…which have been slipping from the lack of sleep.

Thanks!

Find out how old these girls are and if they are under 18, call the cops.

You need to do something sisterly and supportive, to help him mature, such as throwing water over him if he doesn't get up when you do in the morning, or disconnecting his computer from the internet. If he gets drunk at night, get up early and bring him breakfast in bed: fried eggs, chorizo, sausage, bacon. Be sweet and syrupy. When you hear gross sounds, act worried and bring him a bottle of Pepto Bismol.
I'm sure you can think of some more ways of showing your devotion to your brother.

Tough situation if your mom won't crack down on him. Is there any way you could use a different room for study and sleep? Feel sorry for you. It's like you are between a rock and a hard place, as they say.

If you could convince your mom to force him to leave, your problem would obviously be solved, but I don't think that's going to happen.

This is why I keep my distance from my family...

Anyway. Obviously it sounds like your bro has anger issues which he needs help for. It also sounds like (sorry for this inevitable cliche...) he might be on drugs especially regarding his behavior and lack of motivation. YOur mom needs to put her foot down & kick him out of the house, which sounds like she won't do. Do you have any older male figures in your family that can give your brother the kick in the butt that he needs?? Is there another place for you to stay? 'Cause if it were me, I might be looking for other digs so I wouldn't be around that toxic atmosphere. Maybe if you moved out, your mom might get a clue about your brother. You have to take care of yourself while this crap is going on - DO NOT let this crap ruin YOUR life. It sounds like you have potential and it shouldn't be flushed down the toilet because of HIM! I mean, really, who the hell is he anyway? Is your brother going to get YOU any where in life? No. YOU are. The hell with him. I know it's hard but you need to take care of you.

Like another yahoo person suggested...how old are theses girls anyway? Are they jail bait...that'd be a way to get rid of your brother if it turns out that your brother is committing statutory rape!
