I usually don't swear...
When I was very young (7-8) my great-uncle made a comment after we passed a group of teenagers in the mall, every other word from the teenagers was some sort of swear.. He said, "People who swear are showing their lack of vocabulary with which to express themselves." His comment really stuck with me...

We use colloquial terms for bodily waste, body parts, and sexual acts.
Tho' I sometimes like to use the "correct" words as well. I am an expert in the art of creative swearing.

Interesting question.
For a Christian to say something like "Goddamnit!" would be by their religious beliefs to be blasphemy and is therefore discouraged as it violates the 3rd Commandment (2nd Commandment if you are Lutheran or Catholic) which is "Thou shall not make wrongful use of the name of God" or "Thou shall not take the Lord's name in vain". The wording varies depending on who you ask. So to any seriously devout member of any one of the Christian sects using "God", "Lord", "Christ", "Jesus"... etc when swearing is frowned upon.
Now you're asking about atheists which is interesting because it's contradicting to atheist disbelief in any god or gods. If God doesn't exist why would an atheist say, "Goddamnit"? It's not considered to be blasphemy to an atheist to do so, but why say it at all if there is no such being as "God"?
The answer quite simply is because we're constantly exposed to the Christian ideology. "God" exists in nearly every corner of American culture. 75% of the American population belongs to a Christian religion and believes in their God. We're exposed to it in our schools, our homes, our communities... even on television and in movies and blasphemic swearing is done by our Christian neighbors and we pick up on it and it just comes out unconsciously without any intended meaning or purpose out of frustration or anger.
So just because I might say, "Goddamnit" when I stub my toe on something as I stumble through my dark apartment on my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night doesn't have any bearing on my religious beliefs or lack thereof.

I normally just shout "Richard Dawkins!" or "Oh Sagan!"
Ask a silly question...
I hope you realise that not all swear words are religious.

Atheists have no guidelines. So there is no swore word. There is no governing morality to them. Everything they do inside of man's laws is okay and without consequences.
Like mocking and ridiculing others is a great past time.

I don't think it would allow me to post it. Lemme just put it this way. It begins with an "F" and ends with an "uck".
