I wont be able to hang out with him for 2 weeks so the only way i can tell him is online...should i do it or wait 2 weeks?

the fact that you are talking to him at all tells him that --- and these things are much better said face to face if possible --- just keep in contact however you can --- that will let him know you are thinking of him ---- best wishes

Men are not that grate at communication. If he gets lost for words and doesn't respond you will torture yourself and not know if you should contact him again.
If you do it in person (although) harder for you, you will at least be able to read his body language.
