Bettie, thank you! I heard the O'Hair myth in the late seventies, shook it off. Sort of like my father laughing when I told him about the myth of the 200mpg carburetor- "Oh, I heard that my freshman year of college in 1946!"

O'Hair just won't die, will she? I receive that email in various, distorted forms three or four times per year, like the Ben Stein email.

The perpetrators are so pathetic they can't even spell Madalyn Murray O'Hair. I can. I have no admiration for the woman but at least can spell her name right.

I've worked in the entertainment biz for over 20 years and can tell you everything is profit driven, whether it's the brief popularity of "Touched By An Angel" or low budget blockbusters like "Survivor".

We have PBS, but it's not allowed to be rated because it's not for profit. That's how Arbitron (radio) and AC Nielsen (TV) work.

Nowhere in the FCC charter does it have any leeway to ban any form of content due to any petition.

Actually, it's my husband and I who are trying to ruin "wholesome" TV. We are tired of having to watch TV shows that are made for 3-year-olds because Christians either can't figure out how to use their remote controls (or tell their kids "no") or are using the TV as a babysitter.

If you don't like what you're seeing on TV, look for something called the "off" button. TV watching is not necessary to sustain human life.

Wasn't Ms. O'Hair murdered by a good wholesome Christian?

There is a button on your remote. You can actually use it to change channels if you don't like the program.
This is preferable than trying to censor an entire nation.
There are channels for almost everyone. Let's keep it that way.

No....but it is ironic that someone may be using the FCC to threaten their stuff. I didn't go check out the truth of that claim, but I sure was amused.
