i asked my fiance (we do not live together) to bring some bottled water and soap when he comes over today. he said that's my responsibility and he'll just bring wine and food. why can't he spend $2 on some bottled water and soap? is he possibly just in a bad mood? i'm just confused. please help.

if he is stopping for food and wine already, why not pick up a little extra? He might be in a bad mood, its best to just ask him. If he's not in a bad mood, I'd be questioning myself on why I'm engaged to this person...

were you on the phone, or was it text/email response.

If you were on the phone you would be able to hear his tone of voice~which could indicate his meaning. Good/bad mood.

If it was text/email - I bet he was teasing you and in suggesting he will bring the food and wine, he is trying to be romantic. I mean soap and water isn't very romantic.

I would send him a text that says something like, "if you could also pick up the soap and water, I can provide the dessert and a night of gratitude" and see what response you get.

Even if it is just a thank you and some whipped cream :)

Did you ask him for water and soap because he needs a bath? Of course, who bathes with bottled water, so I guess that is not what you meant. Is he really the man for you if you do not know what he meant by saying it is your responsibility? Was he being funny? This world is filled with people who marry the wrong people out of a false sense of love. I was one of them one time. You need to ask him why he said that, the next time you see him. If you are comfortable with his answer, that is: happy, satisfied, feel-warm-inside, see him as prince charming, and you are willing to experience more events like this, then I have no need to interfere in your life -- bless you both!

the other day i asked my best friend if i could borrow her pencil. I was going to copy my notes for her because she had been absent. "Get your own pencil" was the response i recieved. I Shot back "Fine, get your own notes". A comeback that is not mean but shows htem you wont be pushed around is the best choice. The next day she asked me if i wanted to go to hawaii with her family for spring break. She was just in a bad mood

If he's bringing wine and food, I certainly wouldn't mention household items like soap. That would irk me , too.

That was a strange answer. I agree with you. Why can't he just bring water and soap??? Better ask him!!

I agree with Mark C- he just sounds cranky. Ask him what's going on without accusing him. Something that has nothing to do with you could have made him respond like that.

yeah, i think that he probably just in a bad mood! let him be in a bad mood, when he is over it then he will come and most likely apologize!!! be careful not to get in a fight if he is irritated!!!!
