Water should be available at all times. I do not feed "free choice" so my dogs would not have food at night.

Our dogs get fed "half" of their daily ration in the morning around 8:00 and then the other half (and sometimes a little more) at 5:00 in the afternoon. We NEVER take their water away from them. Even if we only had one dog I wouldn't do it. We have large dogs that require more water during the day and smaller dogs that drink very little. I know several people personally that think taking up the water is the "only way"; but I personally could never do that to my dogs. If I get thirsty in the middle of the night you know they must as well. How can we deny them of a basic need that we would never dream of denying ourselves?

not the water, that should be out at all times. Some people let their dogs free feed, or keep food in the bowl at all times, but I think it's healthier for the dog to give food once or twice a day according to what size dog it is. There is usually a chart of recommendations on back of dog food bag, but don't go with the dog's weight if the dog is fat, go with the weight the dog should be and feed accordingly.

How old is your dog?
Is it a puppy? Are you trying to potty train your puppy?
If you are trying to train a puppy, take away all food and water after 7pm. If you have an older dog who "sneak" pee's around the house at night it is ok to take away your dog's water during the night, but make sure to give it back in the morning.

I've had a lot of people tell me that they pick the water bowl up in the evening with a young pup to avoid through the night potty trips outside. I never have, I make the middle of the night trips outside. I don't limit my older dogs water intake, there's always fresh water available. Food isn't an issue, I don't leave food down 24/7, it's breakfast, dinner in the p.m. and that's it.

Food, yes. Water, no. Dogs can have specific feeding times that are convenient for you but dogs need to have water available to them at all times. Dogs learn to not drink so much if they know they can't use the bathroom until the morning. If your dog is still young and not fully potty trained, it would be best to crate train him. DO NOT LIMIT YOUR DOGS WATER INTAKE.

Most people at least leave the water out. We leave our dogs food and water out, but he only eats a mouthful every now and then, so we really only have to fill a small bowl every other day. I would check with your vetrinarian and see what they reccomend. It may be different depening on the breed or lifestyle of your dog.

Well the food you don't need to take away cause you should be feeding 2 meals a day, and there wouldn't be food available anyhow.. But water should always be available.
