I am disheartened by some responses. There were a couple that seemed genuinely understanding that my post was not meant to be offensive or rude.
It has been something I have always wondered. I am always told Islam is a religion of peace; yet I would love to see some "moderate" muslims standing up and saying Hey, this isnt right; please, dont hate us for what "they" do. Or something to that effect.
Do alot of others feel that way too? There seems to be this confusion (at least in my head) not knowing if it truly is a religion of peace or not. I didnt feel many responses actually scoffed at Sharia law and this is what concerned me. Do moderate Muslims believe that Sharia law is a correct interpretion for punishment in the Koran? I would love to hear from you guys!

Black: I agree with your logic...this is the one main difference. It is happening all the time; millions of people are dying. David Koresh and a few other fruitcakes happened, abortion clinic bombings which have killed 10 total people have happened. Yet, if that was happening everywhere all the time, and I was constantly being persecuted about it and didnt agree with it. I would have absolutely no problem saying; Hey, thats sick, Jesus didnt teach that; get off my back, etc

It's been said many times that extremists are supported by the moderates who quietly condone the extremism.
And right off the bat the first answerer missed the point completely.
The people that I am most critical of here are atheists. Do you know why? Because I am one. And even though atheists share only a single commonality, a lack of belief, some presume to speak for all. And when they do I will not stand for it. No one speaks for me but me.
And if some group claiming to speak for all atheists was committing senseless violence against another group I completely disagreed with I would be front and center defending the group I disagreed with.

"This link, he's a good guy and very charismatic person." Ardent I would have loved to have seen what you claimed was in the video but sadly he immediately falls back on rationalizing the violence by saying "well they all do it we're not the only ones." Sorry but that isn't speaking out that's just being a coward.

As far as religions go the US is not the ONLY country with hate religions and religions that tell us to kill other people for their beliefs. Wherever you can find the Catholic Religion you fill find war, hoarding of treasures and riches, idolitry, etc. and this dribbles down throughout all religions because the catholic religion was the founder that enslaved the pagans and forced them to build their churches for them, before long the catholicism way was as normal to peolpe as drinking milk from a cow (why would anyone drink the milk of a beast, and why does the US gov pay for the advertisement to use this product? Would you get down and suck the udder of a cow?).
What has happened is that the perveted and demented people in power (namely the white house) have used God's name while promoting acts of terrorism and violence against our own and other nations so that they can make the US a stronghold (world domination)so it has desensitized the act of war and killing in the eyes of the sheeple we call americans.
I am an American, just got out of the US Army in fact - So I may have a little more knowledge on some of these issues that you actually do as you sit in front of your television believing lies.
I have not forgotten the true values and virtue this land once followed even if it is unfashionable to be interested or appreciate it.
In most contries practicing Muslim religion or the ideas of a one God they follow what the US notices as the Old Testament, no matter what books they call it or what different language is used that is what it equals.
The Old Testament is the way to go, it is like the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, the majority of the New Testament is corrupt and full of deceit as men were trying to make profit and gain by writing this.
In our attempt to be "good citizens" and try to make our way in this society in the US we have fallen. Now instead of wanting to be a part of this society most people kjnow they are forced to be, it is not a free society. Most people understand that we are moving toward a electronic, totaltarian, communist society that wants not only you and your kids but all across the world the same.
The more land and pople that can be forced to be a part of this the more distraction, the roles are all the same it is that those in power now can use other people to play those roles so that it looks different but nothing has changed and every society before us has gone through these things and been ended by these things.

The Islamic law, Shariah, is strict in some cases, and in other cases it is very lenient. In your other question, you asked about homosexuals etc. Like it or hate it, Islam is strict when it comes to being gay, plain and simple. Im not going to sugar-coat it, thats the facts.
You also alluded to the honor-killings. That has no basis in Shariah, so thats easily answered. Its not justifiable, its wrong, and its not part of Islam.
Thirdly, you also asked why don't moderate Muslims object to the wrong. Well, they do. You just won't see the media, trying to build propganda against all that is Muslim, showing that off. This link, he's a good guy and very charismatic person. He speaks out, just give him a chance. There are other videos, but this is more pertient to your question.
Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

Even the apparent 'moderate' Muslims that come here seem to think that Hezbollah is not a terrorist organization. That is something that makes me think that they are not the peaceful Muslims that they say they are.
When I look at Lebanon and what hardship Hezbollah brought to them, did they not appear as insolent children?
And here is the definition in the dictionary about them:
Hezbollah
–noun
a radical Shiʿite Muslim organization in Lebanon engaged in guerrilla warfare against Israel.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Hezbollah%20
So what are we to think when Hezbollah begins to go after the Lebanese Christians?
If that is peace, then what am I defining as peace?
I do not trust any Muslim country to deny Shir ah Law. If Sir ah Law is the 'peace' for the Muslim people,. then there is no peace, there is only barbarism.

Would you say that Catholics want peace? Is it a religion of peace? What about when the Irish were terrorists and were bombing London and all over England? Did those Irish terrorists represent the whole Catholic community? No I don't think so, do you? The fact is when your country gets invaded and you don't have your own military then of course random citizens are going to defend their own country and beliefs. When England invaded Ireland the Irish re acted the same as the arab world has reacted.
And no religion is peaceful.

It is really as peaceful as any other religion... it is extremeists who abuse it, and outsiders who misunderstand it into a monolithic entity. When was the last time a moderate Christian apologized for David Koresh? Or for an abortion clinic bomber? Those are not people you might consider "Christians", and they do not represent you, so why would you take responsibility or apologize for their actions?

No religion (except for Buddhism and the like) are religions of peace.
Relgions is just an excuse to be able to bully, kill, take over lands that are already inhabited by natives, be homophobic, treat women as 2nd class citizens and many other nasty things.

Hello,
I understand your question but you must remember that 80% of Islamic states are secular and not theocracies.
That said, Islam has not had a monopoly on extremism and theocratic cultures. All of you check this out regarding the revered Protestant leader, Calvin:

The squeaky wheel gets the Grease, In my opinion the moderates support the extremists in all religions. American Muslims send money to the terrorists through their mosques and Muslim charities.Just like the catholics with the IRA and the Jewish with Israel.
