Ok you dont believe in God and you have more than made that clear. We can agree to disagree....for now. But please share - Do you believe in anything? If so, What is it that you do believe in? What gives you hope? Peace? Love? Joy?

What keeps you motivated in life? I just couldn't imagine living a life without God's guidance. Who do you depend on when you cant find your way? other humans? We cant even love ourselves right; let alone others....just curious.

I didnt mean to give the impression that my life is empty!! I can not begin to tell you how VERY full my life is! Wonderful huband! BEAUTIFUL children!!! I am full of joy at all times. Even in the bad times...And Im not saying i know everything; i just know enough to acknowledge God in every area of my life. If feels good to believe in something. I fail way too much to believe only in myself; and when I do fail God is ALWAYS there to pick me up and put me right back on track. Oh and I am sorry but I cant explain Gods guidance; its something that you can only experiecnce when He is in your heart.

Some of the answerers acted very immaturely. Ignore them, because they are not representative of the majority of atheists, just as the severel rude believers of whatever faith are nowhere near representative of that particular faith.

You're right, as an atheist, I don't believe in a supreme being. As for things that give me hope, peace love and joy... Well, there's a huge list. I'll name some:
Music, humanity, all forms of life (from insects to mammals), rainbows, thunderstorms, clouds, trees, flowers, grass, laughter, the bonds formed between all forms of life, large bodies of water, rivers, waterfalls, rain, leaves, the changing of the seasons, snow, sunshine, the moon, stars, shooting stars, love, family, friendship, etc.

Sorry for the long list, but I'm sure you understand where I'm coming from. No, I don't believe in a god of any sort, but I have a strong bond with my fellow human beings, animals, and the earth. I value all of the things listed above. They all bring me happiness and inner peace. I live a very happy and fulfilled life, surrounded by so much beauty.

Those are the things that keep me motivated. I'm also motivated by the fact that even though I will die someday, there will be other forms of life after me, for countless years. If I can make the world just a little bit better than how I found it, and therefore ease some of their suffering, then I will consider my life to be meaningful.

When I can't find my way, I depend on all of the things I listed as things that bring me hope, peace, etc. No matter how bad I am feeling, being near nature, the people I love, and listening to music always make me realize the beauty in life. They make me happy, they bring me peace. They make me realize how wonderful life is, and how lucky I am to be alive. This realization is what motivates me, and what makes me live every day to the fullest.

Judaism has a much broader stretch of attractiveness on notion in God considering we do not require notion, best motion. Christianity calls for notion in God -- it is kinda the factor. So agnostic/atheist Christian would not make any experience, however it is works in Judaism. Also the ones agnostic/atheist's in Judaim as a rule imply they have got doubts & are unsure. Once making a decision there's no God, Judaism does not fairly make that so much experience as is, however persons who do this normally simply depart & do not name themselves Jews. EDIT: Christianity's thought of God does instantly contradict with Judaisms. That's why the ones 2 do not paintings in combination. I forgot so as to add that. A human detail to God and human sacrifice are each essense ideals in Judaism that you simply are not able to have them - going again to the Pharoah tale & the Issiac tale (lengthy predating Christanity.) Judaism is not an ethnicity. It's a heritage that appears ethnic, however all of that COMES directly out of the faith it is self. It's a faith wherein you'll be able to come & depart, however as side of the loved ones/neighborhood. You are not able to "depart" an ethnicity, & pronouncing one is ethnically Jewish misses an knowledge of Judaism that it's not like being Italian. I comprehend it's tough to comprehend whilst you come from an man or woman religon reminiscent of Chrisitanity. A lot of persons do not observe this approximately the ethnicity coming from the faith, even a few non-practising Jews, that is why it will get unclearly recounted such a lot. ===================== Why on the earth does she desire to spot as a Jew. She left the faith. She is not a Jew consistent with Judaism. She had an Orthodox heritage, she must recognise this AND have recognized it whilst she modified. I fairly must marvel what the underlying problems are that she is not embracing her heritage of option entirely?

Nature, beauty, my wonderful son and step-children, my cats, the sun and moon, the universe, hope, joy, happiness, responsibility for my own life, charity, good food and good friends, flowers, trees, water, fire, warmth, wind, gravity, the theory of relativity, animals, love.
Motivations: love, the desires - hunger, pain, shelter, human needs, love of life.
Who do I depend on? The same one I take responsibility for --MYSELF.
When will Christians realize that we are ALL humans with humans needs, desires, homes, love, jobs, etc. Just because we have made an educated choice to not believe in myth, is no reason to believe we can't want and need the same as all humans. The same is true of all prejudice, misconceptions and lack of education or not being willing to learn.

I have a family and friends, I love them in my own way, what more do I need?
Having a god or not, everyone has their fellow man, we're social animals. Believing in a god shouldn't stop you from sharing your life with other people, just the same as we non believers so surely we can't be that much of a mystery.

I believe in people. I believe in the mutual effort to explore, discover, and to enjoy life. What we KNOW we can use to make things better. What we don't know we can find out. To throw it all away for pie in the sky when we cannot possibly believe in the hallucinations of an ignorant and brutal time is a waste of life. I believe in life. I'll approach after-life when I'm dead.

"God's guidance" is your subconsious and all the learnings that have been spoon fed to you since birth.

Please, give me one instance of proof that God exists and I will become a believer.

I believe in myself, people around me...the things that I see, touch, feel. To believe in a deity that hasn't presented himself to me is ridiculous.

Think about this: What did people believe in before Christianity? Before Judaism? Did you know that people believed in MULTIPLE GODS?
This means that man has always felt a need to believe in a power higher than themselves......But that's it exactly:::A MAN MADE CONCOCTION.

I know it's hard for you to fathom...but think about this: when you were a child you belived in Santa Clause right? And then at a certain age you grew up and came to learn that Santa Clause doesn't exist.
The idea of a mighty God above is about as ridiculous as Santa or the Tooth Fairy.

BUt as I said, please present me with some proof and i will be a believer. ...and don't give me crap in the bible:::the bible has been manipulated, changed around and WRITTEN by MAN.

Furthermore, religion is a great tool that Governments use to manipulate the masses. Deep thought--think about it. Study and research and stop using GOD as a cruch!
You're going to die, live life and enjoy it TODAY.

Very simply, I depend on myself. I have faith in my own strength. If my strength should fail then I have enough faith in my family and friends to believe that they would support me. If they would not, I suppose I would muddle through.

I am motivated the same way many people are; I would like to advance in my career. I would like to someday have kids. I would like to watch those kids grow up, living happy successful lives.

As for what do I believe in...?

I believe in protecting others when they cannot protect themselves. I believe in everyone having the right to speak his or her mind, regardless of race, religion or gender. I believe in hope. I believe in joy and love. I believe in living every moment of my life to the fullest.

See... Are the two of us REALLY so different?

It is really simple if you do not beleive in God you stand for nothing. We as humans can not half the time depend on our selves to stand firm let alone some one else. To open ones eyes and to look around is know there is a God one who created all things. There is a balance in nature until man comes and disrupts it. To know science is to know their is a power which holds it all together. Some hard nose case's will call it math as they do not want to admit that their is someone some thing bigger smarter and more than they are. One look into the star light night has to make any one wonder about God.

Wow, so that only thing that keeps you motivated is some imaginary being, whom you have never seen or met. Makes me even more afraid of theists, to hear someone talk like that.

The most simple answer to what keeps me motivated, is myself. I pick myself up when I can't find my way or fall down, etc.
