My boss will be living in New Brunswick NJ, with travel to NYC and Philly periodically, and I am hoping to get him a nice guidebook that can direct him to good vegetarian dining, so he can eat how he likes on the road.

Rynn Berry publishes a Vegan Guide to New York City roughly every year. It lists only the vegetarian restaurants, not veg-friendly places.

You can also look for vegetarian restaurant guides on Amazon. I've heard of one called "Healthy Highways," but I don't actually own it.

Your boss can also go to www.happycow.net and www.vegdining.com to find vegetarian restaurants.

The next time he's in NYC, he should check out Pure Food and Wine, an upscale raw place near Union Square. The food is wonderful, and the atmosphere is very nice.

There's a great vegetarian cafe chain called Zen Palate in NYC. They offer inexpensive yet delicious Asian fusion fare. It's a little cramped inside, but there is sidewalk seating if the weather is pleasant. Check out their website for more details.

Im a New Yorker and a Vegeterian and I use the following guide - Veg out NY (its available at target.com for $11)

http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/602-5107815-1070268?asin=1423600819&afid=yahoosspplp_bmvd&lnm=1423600819|Veg_Out:_Vegetarian_Guide_to_New_York_City,_2nd_Edition_:_Books&ref=tgt_adv_XSNG1060

BUT if you need multiple cities I would just sign up for zagats. Restaurant are constantly popping up and closing down especially in cities like NY - this way you will be up to date and not showing up at a steakhouse on accident
