Sounds like its your kitten already has a little personality of her own! My old cat that we got from the SPCA, which is now 15 years old, has never been a cat who likes to be held and cuddled. he would also jump on my lap and enjoyed a good old ear scratch, but as far as being cuddled he did not enjoy it and would squirm out of my arms. I have just recently got a new kitten, and he is the complete opposite and a real cuddler and loves being carried everywhere! Each kitty is unique and different in their own way and i doubt you can change kittys personality, so just try give her cuddles without holding her.

She may not get over it. I have a cat like that. He will pur and rub against me and let me pet him any time. He will come to me when he feels the need for some love but he is 10 years old and still doesn't like to be picked up and held..I go with what he wants. If I pick him up for a cuddle, he will stay still for approximately 20 seconds and then wants down...Its on his terms when he gets the love.. If he is laying someplace and I approach him and pet him, he is fine with it but gets frustrated if I try to pick him up. Cats are strange creatures sometimes. I have another cat who only shows the love immediately after a shower and then she makes it impossible to get ready. She walks all over the bathroom counter while trying to apply make up or in my boyfriend's case, shave...She waits outside the bathroom door while you shower and the minute you open the door, she races in and is purring and rubbing against you...Any other time, she has the leave me alone attitude..

Some cats are just like that. I have a cat that we got that was born outside, but she lets me cuddle her like a baby. I have another that was born inside and she's the same way. My other cats hate to be picked up, they don't like the feeling of being off balanced. Just enjoy letting her sit in your lap, brush her and give her lots of attention, she'll do fine.
Congrats on the new kitty!

my cat did this game thing when we first got her. its not cause shes wild. some cats are u know just born with tons of energy lik this. some cats r born to be lap cats. id b happy if i were u because the lap cats become fat and lazy when they r older and all they want to do is sleep. they r a lil more unhealthy and become a lil growchy. when cats lik ours grow up they act just lik the lap cats did when they were kittens. they liv a lil longer i think and are very smart. plus ive seen those lap cats and they act nice to everyone (even complete strangers) so ur nver rlly sure if their lov is true. cats lik ours u can tell if their lov is true because they wont lik the strangers and they will cuddle up to u. its a good and bad thing so dont worry about ur cat. itll liv longer and b healthier. my cat's mommy is 15 and instead of acting lazy and sleeping all day its going and cuddling up to only its real friends.

I have a cat that is a strictly indoor cat and has never been outside or a stray and is friendly but hates being picked up. Some cats just dont like being controlled like that.
It's no big deal but that's really nice of you to take the cat into your home.

Some cats are just like this.....don't want to feel "trapped". I have cats that were born in my house, lived with me for years, and still don't want to be picked up. Some will let me pet them, with one hand, but if I try to put the other hand on them, they SCOOT! Their dad was the same way, so I think it's just "in the genes". BTW.....these are Siamese/Himalayan mixes, and the dad (shy) was pure Siamese! Hope this alleviates your worries. Maybe, as she grows up, and becomes more used to you/your family, she'll get better. Good luck...............

Some cats just don't like to be held and picked up, some do. Don't force her. You can't really help her get over it, just be content with the fact that she lets you pet her. Cats are just finicky that way. I have four cats and only one will really let me pick her up.

Alot of cats do this. They just aren't used to being held! Cats you get from a pound and such are used to being handled. Gradually approach her and dont be loud of move alot if and when you do hold her.
Also, she might be afraid of hieghts. My cat was like this before she got older.

she might just not like to be held. cats have their own personality, just like humans. some people dont like to be hugged or touched and some do. just give her some time and she should let you hold her eventually. its good she like to be pet, and sit on your lap. just be patient, she will come around!
