Outdated concepts.

Traditionally, the "Seven Deadly Sins" are: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride. Their opposites, the "Seven Holy Virtues" are, traditionally, Chastity, Temperance, Charity, Diligence, Forgiveness, Kindness, and Humility.

The reason they are outdated is because they are both good or bad depending on how they are applied and how extreme you take them. Religion likes to pigeon-hole everything with extreme either/or labels. In reality, the whole world is somewhere between the two extremes.

Take Lust and Chasity, for example. Sure, it is bad to be so horny that you don't do anything else. If your whole life revolves around sex to the point that it is detrimental, that's a bad thing. However, being totally asexual isn't good either. As humans, we are naturally sexual creatures. That sex drive is what has allowed us to survive as long as we have.

Gluttony and Temperance are also bad if taken to extremes. If you are too indulgent, with no self-restraint, you won't survive. To live in this society requires some restraint and good judgement. However, to be totally removed and aloof is bad, too. You can have so much restraint that you basically remove yourself from society. That's bad, too. The ideal lays somewhere inbetween, thus the saying, "Everything in moderation, including moderation".

Too much greed, and you unfairly take from society without giving to it. Too much charity and you end up with nothing and can't survive.

You can do the same with the other "sins" and "virtues". At best, they are only vague guidelines. Ultimately, your morality is up to you. You should take each situation and apply your own brain and your own values to it, instead of just using blanket rules.

The seven deadly sins are Luxuria (extravagance, later lust), Gula (gluttony), Avaritia (greed), Acedia (sloth), Ira (wrath, more commonly known as anger), Invidia (envy), and Superbia (pride).

Each of the seven deadly sins has an opposite among the corresponding seven holy virtues (sometimes also referred to as the contrary virtues). In parallel order to the sins they oppose, the seven holy virtues are chastity, abstinence, temperance, diligence, patience, kindness, and humility.
