I accidentally put a magnet spot on my mom's tv with my fish aquarium magnet cleaner thing. It is pretty large, the size of a grapefruit, it is green and VERY noticable. And BTW, I told my mom about it, I am not trying to remove the evidnece, I am trying to fix the tv. And we have 0 money, so we can't hire anyone to do it.

Most CRT TVs have something called a degausser built in. If you do, it operates every time you turn the TV on. It should slowly eliminate the spot after many on-offs. If you don't, or it doesn't, a TV shop can use an external degausser to clear it up. It won't cost a lot. Glad to see you're honest.

The first two answers are correct but leave out some important details.

Your TV has a degaussing coil (demagnetizing coil) built into it that will take care of minor problems. The trick is that the coil usually only works for the first minute when the TV is turned on from a "cold" start. The TV has to be shut off for about 30 minutes to cool down enough for this to work.

If doing a cold start a bunch of times doesn't do the job, you need to use a external degaussing coil. You would probably have to order one through the mail.

I've linked to the cheapest coil I could find (that I would use on my TV!).

If you do this be sure to read the directions.

Make sure that there is no magnet media anywhere close to the coil when you turn it on as it will damage the information on these. Magnetic media includes computer hard drives, credit cards, VCR tapes, and audio tapes. DVRs, TIVOs, and some music players contain computer hard drives.

You'll need a degaussing coil to fix it.. Not likely to have one lying around. you could check is the TV has a degaussing option on the display menu. some newer ones offer it. though I've mostly seen them on computer monitors.

good luck.
