Why is this the answer alot of people give to most questions about the existance of god? Do people actually think that is proof?

Because it's a threat and religious zealots love to threaten folks: "God will punish you"; "If you don't go to mass, you'll go to hell"; "When Jesus returns to Earth, you will suffer"; etc.

Sort of reminds me when my mom told me not to make horrible faces because they'd stick: obviously there's no rational reason to not do it, so we have to make up some sort of threat.

I'd like to see an Atheist prove God isn't real

Further be honest...

None of you will listen to proof anyway but will just turn the tables or twist the words or all in all...ignore it.

You guys don't want proof.

You just want a rise out of us.

Hmm Christians not being rational and intelligent is coming from people who believe in a flyng pasta turd.

yeahhh.

The proper word for this sort of answer is Scapegoat. You see, by using this answer, it requires that they need not use their brain. The answer is so completely hardwired in that it comes up with little or no thought.

Of course, it is all well and good to give this sort of answer IF you back it up with proof which directly answers the questions as hand. However, most of the time no proof is given. And, if proof is given, it is usually from a Bible passage, which has been twisted and interpreted within an inch of its life.

I suspect most people believe out of emotion. Since they themselves were brought into belief via emotion, emotion is what they use to convert others.

Expecting them to provide real evidence is unrealistic I think. Current believers were not proofed or evidenced into belief.

When all you have is emotion, fear is the best.

They don't have proof. So they need something to make them feel better about their beliefs.

And if it takes aimless threats, well, it's better than them trying to use logic...

Noe, but maybe it'll scare a few people into believing.

It is the only way they can mentally justify taking what they know is an inconsistent and illogical stance.

It's called vindictive stupidity.

People who say that have no rational argument, so they resort to threats instead.
