You can't uninstall Vista, but Microsoft has put out a downgrade disc to downgrade from Vista to XP. Although I'm not sure how much these cost. Otherwise you could reformat your hard drive and install a free linux distribution such as Ubuntu. Or reinstall an older version of Windows if you have one.

First, ensure you have a recovery disk so you can get back to MS Vista, if you decide to do that in the future. If your PC came with a recovery disk, you are clear to install any other OS you have the rights to install. If the PC vendor didn't include a recovery disk, see if they have instructions on building a set from the current installed system (Lenova did this and it seems a pretty lame way to save a small amount of money on their part). Basically just make sure you do have a way to get back to Vista, you bought it, might as well keep it.
To install another OS, load the media into the CD/DVD drive and reboot the system. You may need to go into the BIOS and reset the boot order so that the CD/DVD drive is used before the hard disk. After that, follow the normal installation procedure for the OS you decide to install. Generally this will involve deleting the existing partition and letting the install media create a new partition and formatting with the file system.
What does worry me a bit is how you say "uninstall it just until the bug fix comes out". Once you uninstall it, you'll have to reinstall Vista to install the patches. If you are doing this from a recovery disk, be prepared to backup your data so you can migrate it when you recover to the factory default OS.

You can buy a different operating system (like XP), boot from the installation disk and wipe out Vista, then install the new OS in it's place. Once you boot up the new CD just follow the instructions to delete existing partitions and re-format the hard drive.

You can keep Vista and Dual Boot with Linux Ubuntu 7.10, its free and is better than Vista in many repects. Check out these sites for details:
http://www.ubuntu.com/

That way you can use Vista at a later date if you want to.

What bug fix? What is your problem?
I found that setting Vista to "classic view" made it resemble XP and helps getting used to it. Here are some helpers:

It is possible, but you will need to find all of the hardware drivers for XP first. Create yourself a set of backup disks, than performance the XP installation.
