Do this (this assumes Word 2000/2002(XP)/2003 and maybe 97)

1. Put your cursor on the page you want to reference. Be sure that point will always be ON that page, taking into account possible automatic reformatting by Word.
2. Click the Insert->Bookmark menu item.
3. Give the bookmark a unique name so it won't replace another bookmark.
4. Click Add.
5. Go to the point where you want the reference to be and type "see page " then click the Insert->Reference->Cross Reference menu item.
6. Select Bookmark in the Reference Type list box.
7. Select Page Number in the Insert Reference To list box.
8. You may want to check or uncheck the two check boxes below these list boxes.
9. Select your new bookmark in the For Which Bookmark list box.
10. Click the Insert button.

That should do it.

Actually, a hyperlink IS what you need, but you must declare a bookmark inside the document at the appropriate location first. Then you can hyperlink to that bookmark.
