Because everytime I mention the vet he makes a bolt for the door

Making a bolt for the door means he wants to get away and does not want to visit the vet. What do you think happens to tom cats at the vet?

No, sorry. Engine might be okay. Or Doctor. I don't get your reason though...add details and I'll check back!

What do you mean by 'Everytime I mention the vet he makes a bolt for the door'. What does that have to do with engineering?

you wouldn't want to shout that when your calling your cat in, we had a rambo and he was the smallest cat i've seen very funny to shout something like that, most cat checks at the vet involve a thermometer up the bum he make not like that or vaccinations some animals associate the smell of a place i have to drag my dog up the vets ramp and he shakes the whole time he's in there

It's a great name, I have always given my cats original names, my present two are Psycho and Petal alias mummy's black soldier (Psycho - for obvious reasons) and Princess (Petal), my previous cat was Habibi (darling/sweetheart in arabic, and my cat before her was Sunbeam which was fine until I lost him, my father went out looking for him and came home white faced, he'd been to the local park shouting 'Sunbeam where are you?' - you can imagine the rest! So go ahead call your cat Engineer, and don't believe whoever said cats don't answer to their names they do - Sunbeam came back!!

Yeah! I think thats a really original name. Most cats, like my own, have names like Callie or Coco. Engineer is very creative! I love how you matched it with your cats door-bolting symptoms!

Another good name would be Lightning, or even Flash. Hope I helped! :]

Maybe you should put the carrier out, all the time, so he'll get used to sleeping in it. My cats love to sleep in theirs....I have 5 carriers sitting around in different parts of the house. Then, when it's time to take him to the vet.....DON'T TELL HIM FIRST! I don't have any trouble getting my cats into their carriers, since they don't associate the vet with them. Good luck.............

Yes! very nice! We should all name our pets according to their own peculiarities, physical or related to personality. Let's stop just naming them Fluffy, Bob, Buddie. Though they're nice, they're also too much generic. What if we were all named John or Mary? Very good choice!!

I think it's a great name. You could call him Engie for short. Very original...and a really cute reason to give him that name as well. I love names that have 'stories.' Go for it!

Not the best name I've heard! But Engy would be a good nickname lol.
