They are a sect of religious people that evolved from the Protestant Reformation. They were founded by a man in the year 1872. His name was Charles Taze Russell. There is no record of their religious group before this time, contrary to claims they often make.
Three main sources of the JW doctrine were developed from the following:
1. Protestantism---Russell was from the Congregationalism tradition. They reject the Holy Eucharist, purgatory, confession of sins, and the intercession of the Saints. The early Christian Church accepted all these doctrines and ancient documents prove the facts. Both Christian and non-Christian documents prove the facts.
2. Adventism---refers to a religious movement from the 1800's. It was pre-occupied witht he date of the 2nd Coming. They claimed to know the secret date but were discredited when their prophesies failed to come true.
3. Arianism---The early Christian Church emphatically taught that Jesus was God. The 1st major heresy to reject the divinity of Christ started in 318 AD when a proud and rebellious Catholic priest named Arius began teaching that Jesus was not God. Like JW, Arius praised Jesus with all kinds of high sounding titles while denying His Divinity. The Church leaders were not fooled and at the Council of Nicea 325 AD condemned this Arian heresy. Pliny the Younger born in 62 Ad a pagan historian wrote extensively that the Divinity of Christ was an essential doctrine to the sect of Christ followers.

As a Catholic I have learnt tolerance: I don't care what jehova witnesses think or believe. I don't care if they don't want blood transfusions and die because of tha. I don't care if they desert from the army of their contries because that's against their religion, even if they are deemed as cowards. Anyway, they can do whatever they want with their lives. But what goes beyond my tolerance, what I'm never going to accept, is their disrespect towards me and my family home when they want to impose their presence on Sunday, on the weekends, when I am resting with my family, when I am giving my time to them, when I am sharing with my loved ones, when I want to stay in bed 'til later, when my house is a mess and I am taking my time before organizing it. I will never tolerate to be asked by them to let them come in because they have something to tell me. My home is my temple. I'm never going to tolerate to be cornered and talked into buying a pamphlet that I am not interested in. I am never going to tolerate their attitude and their presence in my home, where they haven't been invited. I've always wondered where their children are when they are bothering other people in their homes. So, I don't want them in my life, but regarding their life, I don't really care.

JW's don't believe that Jesus is the Son of God, but a created being.
"and the word was with God, and the word was A god" - JW Bible.
Catholics believe that all the saved get into heaven. JW's believe that only the first 144,000 JWs get into heaven, the rest get to live in New Jerusalem.
JW's don't accept the Primacy of the Pope (Bishop of Rome).
JW's don't accept the whole "Trinitarian" description of God.
I think the JW's are sadly mislead by their Church, reading a corrupt Bible, and degrading Jesus Christ by their teachings regarding Him.

If you have been here a while you know that there are many who are anti-Jehovah Witnesses and there are many who are anti-Catholic. I try to be, and I think I am, sensitive to religious tolerance. What I am trying to say in a long-winded way is if you are happy with your faith and I am happy with mine isn't that fine for both of us?

I believe that they are children of God and while I DO NOT agree with their beliefs I do respect them as such.

Bottom line: They are not Christian because they deny the Divinity of Christ, and they deny the Trinity. Those are two core beliefs that ALL - repeat ALL - Christians have in common
