I have to add something/anything to my Poms food before he will eat. Even if it's just a drop of the doggie gravey. I am hoping my Pom puppy doesn't get to be as fussy, but from what I have read, it's a very fussy breed when it comes to eating.

I'd probaly go with Timberwolf Organics, the kibble is very small and the food smells great. Sometimes, with really young pups, adding a tiny amount of water or chicken stock will help loosen up the final spray coatings of flavor stuff to entice them even more.

Another good brand is Blue Buffalo and Solid Gold. Not sure if the Solid Gold Hundchen Flocken kibble will be small enough though.

Pick a food that has meat as the first ingredient and no by-products, corn, wheat, or soy. Also you don't want any artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives.

I've always done homemade dog food. I don't trust the commercial companies. Baked chicken, cooled nd boned out and chopped up. Add canned mixed veggies, Blend up fine chopped. Add some cooked brown rice and some raw oats. You can refrigerate up to a week. When served ....
2 times a week I mix in some Omega 3 and every plate I add some Juice Plus+ for dogs. http://www.juiceplus.com/nsa/pages/Home.soa?site=Lb53116

Cooking at home actually works out less expensive that store bought and I trust it more.

If I find a good deal on roast or brisket, I'll switch from the chicken

I have a very picky border collie.

Before you put any kind of meat in the pup's food, I would suggest you first try the 15 minutes twice a day feedings.

In the morning, give the puppy food for fifteen minutes. Remove it after fifteen minutes have past, regardless of what the pup has eaten.

Repeat at night.

Eventually the pup will eat.

Small-breed puppy nutrition
Small-breed puppies have unique needs due to their small mouths, small stomachs and their growth spurt to adult size in a short period of time. That's why it's important to pack a lot of nutrition and energy into a small amount of food. A poor-quality diet will fill a puppy's stomach before enough food can be eaten to satisfy his nutritional needs. The result can be improper muscle and skeletal development and growth impairment. Our puppy foods are formulated to be energy- and nutrient-dense to meet the needs of growing puppies.

Boiled chicken breast and boiled hamburger.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't realize you meant as a permanent diet; I only use chicken and hamburger to keep tiny puppies from getting low blood sugar if they won't eat actual dog food. Artemis makes a small breed puppy food with very tiny kibbles, smaller even than Innova, although Innova is better food. You could also try Orijen. Chicken Soup, Wellness, and Solid Gold have fairly big kibbles and might not work for her just yet.

Best to ask your vet. Otherwise, your local pet food will have good recommendations as well. Puppies need specialized nutrition and feeding often, so before you go and boil chicken and meat, please talk to your vet.
I'm using Royal Canin for my boxer puppy - it's got great nutrition and she loves it.

I had one of those! Still do. :)

She did really well on Innova puppy. She's five now, and recently I've decided to switch her to Canidae, since I've heard nothing but good things about it.
