I have a stray kitten that was abandoned last friday. I don't know what kind of owner he had before but he is filled with fleas. I'm hoping to bring him to the vet and de-flea+de-worm him. I made a question about this before but when I got to the pet store, they said my kitten was too young to be using those products and suggested me to use bodyline+flea shampoo instead. Overall, those products are working but I'm afraid about it not working long term. I also heard about adding vinegar to your pets water, how much do you add? Money isn't an extreme problem but I only have 100 dollars to spend on him at the moment and I was hoping to visit the vet today(will have more money next week)most of the vets I called cost around $50 dollars for a visit and $40 for a stool exam. That leaves $10 dollars for the shots. I will wait until next week if I really have to go to an expensive but good doctor. I'm just afraid that not treating him soon will make him sick. He looks healthy and acts healthy.

What would be cheaper is if you just bought the dewormer for him from the vet. It will not hurt him if he does not have worms, and the likelihood is that, being a stray with fleas, he will have worms.

Don't even bother asking people in pet stores for flea advice. They're salespeople, not medical professionals, and of course they're going to be under the impression that the stuff they sell works. It doesn't. It can't; stores aren't licensed to sell the stuff that works. That's why none of their stuff can be used on animals under 12 weeks of age; most of it isn't safe even for adult animals!!

This cat does not have to be suffering with fleas. You can go into any vets and just pick up Frontline, you don't even need to take the cat in to get it. If the cat is 8 weeks of age or older, you can use the Frontline spot-on. If it appears to be under 8 weeks of age, it will need to be the spray version of Frontline - this can be used on animals from 2 days of age.

Please don't use vinegar! Very harsh on kitty's skin, and VERY useless against fleas. Pop in to vets, first chance you get.

I wish, I wish I wish that people who work in pet stores actually knew how to kill fleas!!
